He has already used Connect Luck Immortal Gu to tie their luck together. He used the same move earlier in Central Continent’s Earth Abyss when trying to refine Fixed Immortal Travel, burning his own soul to spike luck; that refinement still failed because Heavenly Court had already refined the unique Immortal Gu. ch. 1212
Soul expenditure
In Western Desert, Ying Wu Xie activates burning soul bursting luck first; his luck rises many times while his soul weakens, and guts Gu restores him even as his soul path dao marks fall sharply. The move expends soul foundation to temporarily increase luck, permanently uses up soul path dao marks, and needs enough of those marks to activate, so on Fang Yuan’s side only he and Ying Wu Xie can cast it. With Ying Wu Xie’s guidance, Fang Yuan succeeds on his first use after two failures; the core is the soul path Immortal Gu Soul Howl. After one cast his soul path dao marks are nearly wiped out, and Ying Wu Xie warns that the same person cannot stack the move repeatedly for more effect. Ying Wu Xie, as Spectral Soul’s split soul, has foundation enough to use it four times. ch. 1405

Before entering green ghost desert, Fang Yuan activates burning soul bursting luck himself instead of asking Ying Wu Xie, spending a large share of soul foundation that he can then bear. ch. 1506
