Soul Explosion!
Fang Yuan hears Fang Yun shout that they are Fang clan’s Gu Immortals. He had not expected them to be foes of Old Ghost Bai Jun, who seemingly holds them captive. He attacked at once because he recognized Old Ghost Bai Jun as a rank seven soul path Gu Immortal. Killing him would let Fang Yuan take his aperture, and capturing him alive would let Fang Yuan give his body to Ying Wu Xie. Ying Wu Xie is proficient in soul path methods, but the body of Fairy Cui Bo, a water path Gu Immortal, limits him. Fang Yuan keeps his true appearance hidden, to fight for green ghost desert unseen by Heavenly Court and other forces. ch. 1506

He had activated burning soul bursting luck himself before entering the desert. It cost a lot of soul foundation, but he can completely bear it. He drops his plan to kill all three immortals and annex Old Ghost Bai Jun’s soul beast group. Instead he decides to save the two Fang clan Gu Immortals and take Old Ghost Bai Jun captive. So he uses soul path, which is slightly inferior because he has few soul path Immortal Gu. He will not explode his own soul except for burning soul bursting luck. He uses soul beasts instead, whose explosions are a little impure and destroy their soul cores, but the power is truly impressive. ch. 1506
When the dust settles, Old Ghost Bai Jun floats with the greater part of his body gone and only his left arm remaining. Fang Yuan is glad Old Ghost Bai Jun lives, since he can be captured for Ying Wu Xie. But he cannot do that in front of the Fang clan Gu Immortals. Calling himself Suan Bu Jin, he says his rule is to leave room for peace and tells Old Ghost Bai Jun to leave. Fang Yuan would normally wipe out an enemy’s nine generations, but he spares him for now. He wants the body and is mindful of Fang clan. ch. 1506
Old Ghost Bai Jun, blank during the explosion, felt extreme joy at surviving, then fear and anger. He was about to use Soul Beast Token when Fang Yuan let him go. He suspects deception, and Fang Yuan asks whether Old Ghost Bai Jun is really looking for his death. Fang Yuan stands with absolute confidence that he fears no trouble from a freed enemy. Fang Leng concludes the stranger is arrogant but principled, which explains why the rescue was announced openly. ch. 1506
Old Ghost Bai Jun still holds most of his strength and the rank eight Immortal Gu Soul Beast Token as a huge trump card. Activating it carries a huge price and would still not assure him of winning, while revealing it might make Fang Yuan attack to seize it. He decides to escape first and see what happens, ready to turn back and stake his life if Fang Yuan is only pretending. He scoffs and leaves, his broken body flying into the dark clouds. Fang Yun, dazed, cries out that the benefactor is truly letting Old Ghost Bai Jun go although he has a rank eight Immortal Gu. ch. 1506
