Chapter 1212

Fang Yuan has spent half a month disguised as a monkey. Atop a nameless peak, he watches unseen the super Gu formation that hides Southern Border’s giant dream realm. His disguise is convincing enough that a female monkey courts him with a peach, and he rejects her and kicks her off the tree. Even his strongest investigative method, three breaths future vision, only shows a blur past the surface, and to the naked eye the formation still looks like nothing more than a verdant green mountain. ^{ch. 1212}

He identifies its maker as Chi Qu You, Chi clan’s first supreme elder and a formation path great grandmaster. Chi Qu You’s strongest creation, three tune nine pool formation, once let his Chi clan Gu Immortals kill many Central Continent Gu Immortals in the five regions chaotic war. He made it in his later years and is still far from dying. Its layered style, formations within formations, matches what Fang Yuan now sees, and he wonders whether he can deduce it from the formation before him. The formation has used only part of its power, and has not activated its Immortal Gu, since that would cost immortal essence. Inside Bai Xiang grotto-heaven, Bai Ning Bing breaks through all of the Thirty Heavenly Halls to reach Bai Xiang heavenly spirit, who still refuses to acknowledge him as master. The spirit sets him a further test instead. Bai Ning Bing must retrieve a flame that escaped the hall’s top level a few thousand years ago, now hidden in the western sea and surfacing only rarely. He waits more than ten days at the coastline until waves over a hundred feet tall churn the sea and a fist sized flame shaped like a flying dragon finally rises. The seawater around it rushes outward, as if afraid, leaving a widening empty space. Usually expressionless, he shows shock and recognizes it himself as a rank nine immortal material, extremely rare and alone able to refine rank nine Immortal Gu, a task far beyond him. ^{ch. 1212}

Bai Ning Bing risks a special method to reach Ying Wu Xie, despite his order not to contact him, and describes the flame. Ying Wu Xie identifies it as Raging Wave Rising Dragon Fire, the human flame among three unique flames named in Legends of Ren Zu. At his cultivation a wild flame is almost hopeless, he warns, but this one is not wild since Bai Xiang subdued it. He offers three methods with slim chances that depend on his luck. Privately, Ying Wu Xie judges that only his own main body, after revival, could likely subdue this flame. He resolves to help, since Bai Ning Bing’s failure would hurt his own plans too. He uses his immortal killer move Burning Soul Bursting Luck. He burns his own soul to raise his luck sharply. He had used the same move before in Central Continent’s Earth Abyss trying to refine Fixed Immortal Travel, failing only because Heavenly Court got there first, and since Immortal Gu are unique, no luck could ever refine a second one now. He had already tied his luck to Bai Ning Bing’s with connect luck Immortal Gu, and now channels that boosted luck to help him. ^{ch. 1212}

Near the giant dream realm, still disguised as a monkey, Fang Yuan sees two Gu Immortals meet beneath his tree, the peach he had thrown down at one’s feet. One thanks the other, calling him Brother Luo. Brother Luo answers that he can bring him in, but takes no responsibility if he is discovered. ^{ch. 1212}
