Fang Yuan states that the super Gu formation was built under Chi clan leadership, and that among Southern Border super forces Chi clan is the number one force in formation path. He also states that Chi clan’s first supreme elder personally set up that formation as a formation path great grandmaster. Chi Shang arrives as a Chi clan Gu Immortal to inspect the formation, and Chi clan is united by marriage with Ba clan. ^{ch. 1327}

Chi Shang later claims that in formation path attainment Chi clan stands first in Southern Border even if clan strength is slightly inferior to Wu clan. ^{ch. 1328}

Because the super Gu formation’s dream realm was personally set up by Chi clan’s first supreme elder, Wu clan cannot run its dream realm business inside it without bringing Chi clan in: Chi clan’s Gu Immortals understand the formation far better than any other clan’s. ^{ch. 1329}

Chi clan sits toward the west of Southern Border’s super forces, with Yang clan as neighbor, and keeps a good relationship with Wu clan under the rule of befriending the distant and opposing the near. First supreme elder Chi Qu You receives a report from Chi Gui about Fang Yuan’s challenge to Chi Shang, then sends Chi Shang an information path Immortal Gu carrying Tu Yuan’s immortal inheritance of the earth water wind fire four elements formation. ^{ch. 1330}

Chi Qu You’s own heir, his son Chi Bang, became an immortal only through his father’s protection and has limited ability, so Chi Qu You nurtures the talented Chi Shang partly to give Chi Bang a protector who can help him hold the first supreme elder’s seat. ^{ch. 1331}

Chi clan’s base sits at Myriad Snake Mountain, in the far west of Southern Border. Because Chi clan specializes in Gu formations and sets up many immortal Gu formations, its base and all its resource points have incredible defense, and it also holds two Immortal Gu Houses. ^{ch. 1348}

Wu Yong’s death throws Southern Border into chaos, and Fang Yuan asks Chi clan to work with him against Yang clan, a chance Chi Qu You judges rare even in his lifetime. Chi clan’s Gu Immortals invade Yang clan’s territory, Chi clan’s great expert attacks in person with an Immortal Gu House, and Yang clan, which has no rank eight Gu Immortal, is left in a passive state. ^{ch. 1348}
