Wu An is a Wu clan rank six Gu Immortal who serves as Wu Yi Hai's subordinate at the super dream realm formation and profits from the immortal opportunity business.
When Fang Yuan arrives as Wu clan’s person-in-charge for the super dream realm, Wu An bows, smiles affectionately, and leads the way. With only rank six cultivation he is Fang Yuan’s direct subordinate and must curry favor. He flies out of the super Gu formation and waits two days and two nights on a mountain a hundred li away to receive him. Inside the formation he guides Fang Yuan to the core where Wu Liao waits. Both Wu An and Wu Liao are rank six, but Wu An fawns while Wu Liao does not. After Fang Yuan refines Immortal Gu, Wu An offers supper and leads joyfully; Wu Liao snorts coldly at the fawning. At the banquet they sit left and right of Fang Yuan and answer questions. Wu An hesitates before leaving, wanting to speak further. Behind him, Gu Immortals from other clans share his anxiety over the immortal opportunity business: Wu clan had led several clans in that secret trade, and with Wu Yi Hai in charge and controlling two Immortal Gu the trade has to stop. Wu An fawns to gain protection and to salvage the business, from which he obtained many benefits. Exposure would count as corruption usable against them. ch. 1223
Seduction scheme
Wu An lies that an important person wants to report matters so Lady White Rabbit can meet Fang Yuan alone and seduce him into managing the immortal opportunity business. Wu Liao arrives outside to expose the scheme. Wu An had earlier failed to rely on Wu Liao, who always objected intensely to Wu clan doing that business. ch. 1224
Profit redirect
Fang Yuan redirects his portion of the immortal opportunity profits to Lady White Rabbit and tells Wu An to continue duties undisturbed. Wu An reads Fang Yuan’s silence toward Wu Liao’s shouted report as a political signal about the business. ch. 1225

Death
When Lady White Rabbit asks to see Wu Yi Hai and is refused, Wu An tells her to leave and manage the immortal opportunity business well. Her eyes turn black; she names herself Black Tigress and melts Wu An into a puddle of black water with a killer move she says was meant for Wu Yi Hai. ch. 1349 Wu Liao later attacks her to avenge Wu An despite their mutual dislike, because both were Wu clan Gu Immortals. ch. 1351
