Fang Yuan finds the immortal opportunity business of the dream realm extremely popular and larger than he first expected. Anyone who can pay, demonic path or lone cultivator, may enter the righteous path’s defensive Gu formation and interact with the dream realm through Lady White Rabbit’s mortal Gu House. He reads the trade as a consensus among Southern Border righteous path Gu Immortals: they encircled the dream realm, lost members exploring it, including Luo clan’s third supreme elder, then used paid entry to take resources from non-righteous immortals while avoiding further losses of their own. He judges that one clan is not enough for the scale and fearless stance, and that at least six or seven clans work together. Wu clan, with two rank eight Gu Immortals, cooperates with six other clans to run the business. Lady White Rabbit manages the immortal opportunity business as middleman; demonic path and lone immortals have basis to trust her, and she takes a cut of every transaction’s profits. Wu An and other beneficiaries want the business to continue after Wu Yi Hai becomes Wu clan’s person-in-charge of the super Gu formation. Wu Liao objects intensely to Wu clan doing the trade and cannot be relied on for that scheme. ch. 1224
Origin and politics
Southern Border Gu Immortals suffered massive dream realm casualties, slowed exploration, and grew wary, so the immortal opportunity business was born. Fang Yuan holds that if the righteous path could explore the dream realm safely they would not cede that profit to demonic and lone immortals. Creating the business was the idea of a Wu clan rank seven Gu Immortal. The trade also eases pressure: if the righteous path sealed the super dream realm alone, demonic and lone immortals might unite as in the battle of Yi Tian Mountain. Once exposed, participants would be punished under righteous path rules as corruption. Fang Yuan keeps the business running while directing his profit share to Lady White Rabbit, and notes that clans outside it, such as Ba clan, Tie clan, and Shang clan, watch greedily. ch. 1226
