Mental Energy

Gu Masters consume their mental energy to control Gu worms, and if they overuse it their minds feel sluggish. Ju Kai Bei’s killer move Djinn transformation raises his strength and his mental energy by three times, and it also triples what both cost him, so that his yellow gold primeval essence and his mental energy decrease rapidly. ^{ch. 319} After his battle with Sun Yuan Hua, Fang Zheng has expended a lot of mental energy on controlling Gu worms, which takes a lot of concentration and at times means multitasking. ^{ch. 335}

Fang Zheng, a rank four middle stage Gu Master, has limited soul strength and so only so much mental energy, and with almost ten thousand flying cranes it is easy for him to lose control of them. ^{ch. 334}

Fang Yuan briefly considers keeping ratten shell grass soldiers around Tie Ruo Nan to erode her remaining mental energy until her mind breaks down, then drops the idea for a better way. ^{ch. 362} With Fang Yuan’s hundred man soul he has ample mental energy, and with his firm will he subdues a cracked white bone wheel in fifteen minutes by injecting primeval essence into it. ^{ch. 430} Dong Fang Chang Fan, at his wits’ end, chooses a battle of wills while he still has some foundation and mental energy, converting all of his remaining mental energy into his own will army. ^{ch. 805} Fang Yuan’s will says that Fang Zheng, his soul injured, can no longer use River Swallowing Toad, since commanding it in battle uses up an enormous amount of mental energy. ^{ch. 1084} Spectral Soul turns pale after a soul explosion that consumed a huge amount of his mental energy. ^{ch. 2050} Mo Li says his golden-red armor emptied his primeval essence, stamina, mental energy and thoughts in tens of breaths. ^{ch. 2129} Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s injuries recover even more rapidly, and his mental energy recovers as well. ^{ch. 2235}

Fang Yuan does not care about the expenditure of his mental energy as he mobilizes his dog group with the most perfect coordination. When his dog enslavement Gu plants itself in the soul of the big lightning symbol dog, a formless impact in terms of mental energy strikes him through the Gu. ^{ch. 349}

Using his mental energy so intensely to control the dog groups leaves Fang Yuan with a backlash of dizziness, which would be very small for an enslavement path Gu Master with a strong soul. Enslavement path Gu Masters manipulate large numbers of worms or beasts at the same time, which uses up a lot of their mental energy, and so they often use a special set of Gu worms to train and raise the quality of their own soul. Fang Yuan has to waste his mental energy forcing the fearful lightning symbol dogs to fight, which leaves his mind exhausted. ^{ch. 350} Controlling so many wolves through three battles in one night expends Fang Yuan’s mental energy, a fatigue that originates in his soul and spreads through his whole body. ^{ch. 484} Fang Yuan spends nothing to control his soul beast army other than mental energy and immortal essence. ^{ch. 1509}

After refining a beast strength placenta Gu over five days and nights without rest, multitasking the whole time, Fang Yuan’s mental energy is used to its limits and he is extremely exhausted. ^{ch. 378}

Having used up too much mental energy refining the second aperture Gu, Fang Yuan is mentally drained, and his head is still heavy after an hour of rest. ^{ch. 388} Every Gu refinement strains the soul and uses a lot of mental energy, and Fang Yuan’s large-scale refinement uses more. ^{ch. 422} Fang Yuan reasons that refining ten ghost fire Gu at once would expend a lot of mental energy, since ghost fire Gu are both fire path and soul path Gu, and that over time his soul would turn weak very easily, one of the special traits of soul path Gu worms. ^{ch. 831} An Han notes that refining ghost fire Gu consumes a lot of mental energy, yet Fang Yuan still seems energetic. ^{ch. 832} In a refinement duel, Feng Jin Huang has used up a lot of her mental energy, while Fang Yuan, who has used only Gu refinement techniques and no refinement path killer moves, has his mental energy at full capacity, more than enough to control a ghost fire, which also expends mental energy. ^{ch. 855} Hei Fan’s last parallel refinement recipe for year Gu uses the least ingredients and has the highest success rate, and it also expends the least time and mental energy. ^{ch. 1131}

Fang Yuan expends mental energy thinking through his choices until his ears are buzzing. ^{ch. 400}

An hour into a contest of endurance, Fang Yuan collapses with his immortal essence depleted, unable to sustain familiar face, his mental energy drained. ^{ch. 1098} Gu Immortals who have earned a lot in the fight over resources have paid a huge price, their mental energy depleted and their immortal essence expended. ^{ch. 1109} Ye Lui Qun Xing rests for an hour mainly to restore his mental energy, and with his own methods he can recover completely to his peak state in that time. ^{ch. 1203} Fang Yuan stops a transformation and rests to regain his mental energy. ^{ch. 1302} A failed activation leaves Fang Yuan injured by the backlash, with large amounts of mortal Gu destroyed and a lot of his mental energy expended. ^{ch. 1374} Qi Sea Ancestor wastes some mental energy, immortal essence and timing sustaining two qi path hands against the two immemorial soul beasts that Spectral Soul sends at him. ^{ch. 2042} After maintaining a tense state for over a month to finish Four Elements Square Regret Blood Refinement Pool, Fang Yuan is exhausted, having consumed too much mental energy and a lot of immortal essence, and he falls asleep at once. ^{ch. 2077} Transforming bad luck into good luck spends immortal essence and mental energy for Immortal Zombie Giant Sun. ^{ch. 2201}

Hei Lou Lan states that attitude Gu is a rank eight Immortal Gu with minimal requirements to use: it needs no immortal essence and consumes only mental energy, so even she, a rank six Gu Immortal, can use it. ^{ch. 974}

Maintained for a long time, attitude Gu would wear out Fang Yuan’s mind. ^{ch. 1040} Fang Yuan’s green grape immortal essence cannot activate Years Flow Like Water at his rank six cultivation, unlike attitude Gu, which only needs mental energy. ^{ch. 1130} Of three rank eight Immortal Gu, attitude Gu uses mental energy, Years Flow Like Water can use any rank of immortal essence with its strength depending on the essence used, and Soul Beast Token expends the soul foundation of its user. ^{ch. 1572} Because familiar face’s core is attitude Gu, which expends only mental energy, the killer move uses very little immortal essence. ^{ch. 1633}

Fang Yuan expends a huge amount of mental energy and immortal essence unraveling the final level of the battlefield killer move unmoving troops, which has nobody controlling it, and completely captures Yu Lu blessed land. ^{ch. 987}

Ying Wu Xie, controlling a super Gu formation while defending against wisdom path deduction, has his mental energy severely drained and cannot continue resisting. ^{ch. 1070} Immortal killer moves have outstanding effects but a very high expenditure of mental energy. Fang Yuan’s maintained bloodstained conqueror’s robe, familiar face and three breaths future vision involve large numbers of Gu worms and need enormous mental energy, so more immortal killer moves activated in battle is not always better. ^{ch. 1139} Reverse flow protection seal uses a lot of the Gu Immortal’s mental energy and immortal essence. ^{ch. 1291} Chi Shang says that after a Gu formation is set up, the amount of mental energy the Gu Master uses up also decreases. ^{ch. 1333} Sustaining the immortal killer move self cleansing takes a lot of immortal essence and mental energy, and a self cleansing Gu formation would take much less of both. ^{ch. 1410} Reverse flow protection seal takes too much of Fang Yuan’s concentration and mental energy. ^{ch. 1426} A move that holds back the winds of assimilation has a huge price, expending a lot of immortal essence and the mental energy of the Gu Immortals sustaining it. ^{ch. 1547} Fang Yuan recalls that the killer move myriad self used a lot of mental energy and needed preparation time, while myriad self Immortal Gu needs only one thought. ^{ch. 1570} Wisdom path killer moves are fundamentally more complex and expend much more mental energy. ^{ch. 1579}

Once Reverse Flow River returns to normal, the river surface is smooth and challenges physical stamina less, but towards the upstream its reflective power against willpower and mental energy grows stronger. ^{ch. 1281}

The Gu Immortals eliminated outside the river have consumed all their mental energy for swimming upstream and have no determination left to try again for a period. ^{ch. 1283} Fang Yuan concludes that Ma Hong Yun died of exhaustion after overexerting himself while carrying Zhao Lian Yun, drained of stamina and of mental energy. ^{ch. 1284}
