Heaven Qi

During Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s ascension, clear heaven qi pours from the sky while golden earth qi surges up from the ground. The two fill the immortal aperture as green and golden mists. Heaven and earth qi are the source of all living beings; as they interact they evolve into the things of heaven and earth. Leftover amounts in a high grade blessed land can still refine a mortal Gu into an Immortal Gu. ^{ch. 609}

Stained by heaven qi, a person melts into air, which is why Giant Sun’s will does not dare to act rashly against Fang Yuan’s ascension. A Gu Master undergoing ascension must hold the three qi in balance throughout, and too much heaven and earth qi kills. ^{ch. 627}

Heaven and earth qi differ across the five regions. A simple test of that qi can reveal which region a Gu Immortal came from when ascending. ^{ch. 679}

Places with little vitality have thin heaven and earth qi. Ascending there softens the tribulation but weakens the immortal aperture’s foundation and future potential unless Gu worms store and supply extra heaven and earth qi. Heavenly tribulations and earthly calamities form when heaven and earth qi grow too thick and accumulate. ^{ch. 683}

When the heaven and earth qi inside an immortal aperture grow insufficient, Gu Immortals place blessed lands on the ground to take in earth qi, or place grotto-heavens in the sky to take in heaven qi, and that intake raises the aperture’s foundation. ^{ch. 730}

Heaven and earth qi are foundational qi of living beings and very common. Heaven qi that Fang Yuan’s sovereign immortal aperture produces or absorbs counts as an ordinary Gu material and is not considered an immortal material. Immortal-material heaven qi gathers into a lump that cannot be pulled apart easily, and Gu Immortals buy such lumps from treasure yellow heaven to scatter inside an aperture and create weather such as thunder, lightning, wind, or snow. That lump is worth far more than ordinary heaven qi. Most sales are rank six or seven heaven qi; rank eight heaven qi is very rare, and rank nine sells only once in a thousand years or more. Hua Cai Yun gifts Fang Yuan a portion of rank nine heaven qi as a ball of qi that holds lightning, rain, sun, and snow within. ^{ch. 1881}

Heaven Qi Immortal Gu is a separate Gu. The three-qi balance for ascension is covered on three qi. Earth qi as the paired ground-side resource is covered on earth qi.
