Heaven qi, earth qi, and human qi are the three qi of immortal ascension. They must stay balanced while they fuse, or the attempt kills the Gu Master.
In the advancement to Gu Immortal, the three qi of heaven, earth, and human are crucial. The Gu Master shatters the aperture and takes in heaven qi and earth qi. More heaven and earth qi raises the chance of success, but those two cannot accumulate without limit: they must stay level with human qi. ch. 600
Human qi is the sum of the Gu Master’s own accumulation: battle strength, toughness of body, depth of soul, familiarity with Gu worms, understanding of heaven and earth, awareness of one’s own nature, luck, talent, aptitude, fortuitous encounters, insights, and related factors. More human qi allows more heaven and earth qi to be taken in and raises the chance of breakthrough. Too little human qi relative to heaven and earth qi ends in assimilation and death. ch. 600
Blessed land grade
Blessed lands divide into small, medium, and high grades by size. The more heaven, earth, and human qi fuse, the higher the grade. High grade lands leave leftover heaven and earth qi that can interact and refine a mortal Gu into an Immortal Gu. Humans who take in heaven and earth qi and fuse them with human qi induce heavenly tribulations and earthly calamities through that fusion. ch. 609
Balance during the attempt
Clear heaven qi, golden earth qi, and thick white human qi merge into a multi-colored lump after the aperture shatters. Stained by heaven qi, a person melts into air. Corroded by earth qi, a person turns into rock and dies. The cultivator must balance the three qi at all times; too much heaven and earth qi kills, and unbalanced human qi can cause self-detonation. ch. 627 Taking in too much heaven and earth qi out of greed for Great Dao mysteries is a named failure path during the same stretch. ch. 628
Extreme physique surge
In Hei Lou Lan’s ascension, heaven qi pours down like a waterfall, earth qi gushes up like a golden fountain, and her accumulation bursts out as a large amount of human qi. ch. 685
Super grade result
The same three-step frame (shatter aperture, receive qi, release Gu) still applies when a ten extreme physique ascends. Success yields a super grade blessed land rather than an ordinary high, middle, or low grade one, because the fused qi foundation is greater. ch. 690
