Formidable Hei Lou Lan
Fang Yuan sits completely hidden inside a thick lump of three colored qi in true inheritance secluded domain. Tai Bai Yun Sheng warns him against greed for Great Dao mysteries and taking in too much heaven and earth qi, then drifts away from him. The portion of Giant Sun’s will contesting the supreme true inheritance with Tai Bai Yun Sheng slows, and his pressure eases. The river-like will curses Fang Yuan, still balanced despite so much human qi. Hei Lou Lan’s group dares not move, as backlash from such intense qi would be no joke. ch. 628
Fang Yuan smiles faintly inside the qi. This is his second ascension, since he became a blood path Gu Immortal in his previous life, and he treats the exchange with heaven and earth as an extremely precious chance. He steers it toward strength path, and very quickly his attainment, once only quasi master, passes master and charges toward grandmaster. He must, because the vital Gu of his shattered second aperture is rank four all-out effort Gu, of strength path. Put in first during the third step, it would help him become a strength path Gu Immortal, but it is not rank five. Higher attainment offsets the gap, as the step is otherwise extremely risky, and a failed immortal aperture ends the ascension. ch. 628
Outside, an extremely huge cocoon of qi from the tribulations completely covers Eighty-Eight True Yang Building, and nine snow white chaotic branching teeth shoot out. Giant Sun’s will thickens its armor to ten meters and sends dozens of will hands to block them. The teeth leave nine wounds in the armor, two of them six meters deep. Then a second wave of eighteen spirals forms, and within it a third, making thirty-six, whose might exceeds simple addition. The will almost wants to abandon the building and kill Fang Yuan, yet as a special will it must protect the inheritance treasure. ch. 628
The main will summons the river-like will inside the domain to help defend. The portion contesting Tai Bai Yun Sheng regretfully sends most of its strength, keeping some back to stop him taking the building. Tai Bai Yun Sheng, relieved, says Fang Yuan’s plan has worked, since the fusion of three tribulations seems to force Giant Sun’s will to defend with all its strength. The third step of putting in Gu, he says, decides success or failure. ch. 628
The qi lump shrinks completely into Fang Yuan’s broken aperture, and Hei Lou Lan’s group, seeing him at the final step and Giant Sun’s will retreating, panics. Bian Si Xuan suggests killing him now but does not move. Everyone hesitates, as Tai Bai Yun Sheng still supports him, holding the true inheritance light lump unyieldingly. Hei Lou Lan judges Tai Bai Yun Sheng a weak healing Gu Immortal, but a successful ascension would bring endless problems, so he orders the attack. ch. 628
Hei Lou Lan, as the strength path phantom giant, strides forward. Tai Bai Yun Sheng threatens to throw the supreme true inheritance at the luck path true inheritance and leave them to answer to Giant Sun’s will. Their fighting intent evaporates, but Hei Lou Lan leaves a few to guard the luck path true inheritance and leads the rest on. Fang Yuan laughs, opens his eyes and invites them to chase him, to see how many are flying masters. His eagle rise Gu is destroyed, but Hu Immortal blessed land and the link to treasure yellow heaven leave him with spares. The gang loses heart, but Hei Lou Lan, Lord of the Imperial Court for this round, is unmoved. He vows to chase even without catching Fang Yuan, to see how he can ascend under such pressure, and morale lifts. ch. 628
Fang Yuan turns grim and says no more. Hei Lou Lan has hit the main point: Giant Sun’s will now blocks the tribulations outside, which leaves his group room to intervene. Backlash from the remaining qi strikes mortal Gu, but both sides use mortal Gu and share it. Fang Yuan’s predicament is no easier, and his ascension stands stuck between the second and third step. ch. 628
