Under the amplification of heroes among people, Dragon Palace barely wards off Duke Long, who then sends it flying with dragon claw strike. He said that, unlike the wingless birds, toothless beasts and gill-less fish of The Legends of Ren Zu, he had not even known he had lost his freedom. Heavenly Court was never the point, he said. A million years ago, Duke Long told his disciple Hong Ting that Heavenly Court’s righteous path demands sacrifice. Hong Ting wanted to revive everyone who sacrificed for him and asked why fate’s arrangements must be accepted. In the current era, Duke Long told Feng Jin Huang she would be the future Great Dream Immortal Venerable, invincible in the whole world. She smiled, then said she did not believe in fate if fate decreed this. ^{ch. 1960}

Fang Yuan breaks through the roof of Heaven Overseeing Tower and enters. A Heavenly Court Gu Immortal stands to stop him, and Fang Yuan rips him in two. He strides to the center of the top floor and grabs fate Gu. His goal achieved, Fang Yuan thinks not of himself but of The Legends of Ren Zu, where Ren Zu asked for freedom from fate’s shackles and was refused by the birds, beasts and fishes. ^{ch. 1960}

The birds told Ren Zu that humans are destined to be alone, the beasts that they die with nothing, the fishes that they die of old age, and each warned against wild fantasies. Ren Zu became insane and demanded on what basis fate forbids him such thoughts. He declared that if such thoughts made him insane he would be a lunatic, and if his pursuit of freedom made him demonic he would be a demon. Fang Yuan sneers coldly and clenches his fist lightly. Fate Gu is crushed into pieces, and the rank nine Immortal Gu is destroyed. ^{ch. 1960}
