Wu Yong names Cong Yan with Duke Long, Fairy Zi Wei, Yuan Qiong Du, and Che Wei as fighting in Heavenly Court while Southern Border weighs the nine-nine consecutive unceasing formation. ^{ch. 1730}

Narration calls him Heavenly Court rank eight rule path Gu Immortal Cong Yan. He takes out rule path Immortal Gu Permanence, a splendid golden centipede-like Gu, and carefully sends it into the incomplete Eternal Yacht Immortal Gu House as the final construction step. The house goes out of control and shatters; he protects Permanence Gu at the cost of heavy injuries while supplementary Immortal Gu are damaged. Cong Yan speaks of looking forward to Che Wei creating a path, then spreads light blue radiance that covers Che Wei. Che Wei’s body recovers while Cong Yan’s worsens; Cong Yan dies, and Che Wei crawls toward fate Gu. ^{ch. 1952}
