Ink Effect

He frames rebirth as bringing a will from the downstream to the upstream through Spring Autumn Cicada, then fusing with himself at a point in time. Because this world’s time is unique and absolute with no parallel dimensions, the downstream remains as it was after he died, while after rebirth he is like a drop of ink in clear river water: as he changes events and people, the ink spreads and dyes the river a different color. He can change things readily because fate Gu is incomplete and because he is an otherworldly demon not bound by fate, whereas a native such as Red Lotus Demon Venerable finds many outcomes pulled back toward their original route. Otherworldly demons are a huge blob of ink; native Gu Immortals are only short-lived ripples under fate Gu. ^{ch. 1754}

With his strength and influence, the ink effect of that rebirth becomes much more significant. ^{ch. 1756} He sometimes repeats prior-life actions on purpose to keep the ink from expanding in ways that would cost his advantage. ^{ch. 1767}
