River of Time

Legend holds that a river supports the world's time flow. Spring Autumn Cicada can send a user upstream along it toward the past.

Appearance

When Fang Yuan enters with his physical body, the river is huge and wide, as vast as the sea. In surrounding darkness a huge river flows unceasingly; the water is pale white, and countless ripples collide and create beautiful colors at all times.^{ch. 1431}

Legend says a river of time exists in this world. It supports the world’s time flow and circulation, and by using Spring Autumn Cicada’s power one can travel back upstream and return to the past. Many dispute or doubt the tale; few dare to believe it.^{ch. 2}

Main world measure

A land spirit explains that the five regions share one river of time flowing from past through present toward future, and that if history is still images, the river of time is the thin thread connecting them. Using Spring Autumn Cicada forces a will and memories along that line in reverse into an earlier image.^{ch. 383}

Spectral Soul Demon Venerable corrodes a red lotus floating on the river’s surface with thick darkness, exerting all his effort until he leaves a ghost face on it.^{ch. 1015}

Secluded domain entry

The River of Time is a secluded domain of heaven and earth widely known inside The Legends of Ren Zu. Entering with a physical body normally demands Gu Immortal experts with deep time path foundation. The river is not without life: wild year Gu, groups of wild time path Gu worms, and year beasts appear along it. Segments can be dangerous, including sudden springs that shoot currents from the raging water.^{ch. 1431}
