Year Beast

Hei Fan’s true inheritance states there are twelve different forms of year beasts. When Fang Yuan first uses year beast summoning in the Lang Ya eagle hound fight, the beast that answers is a chicken year beast, hill-sized, with no Immortal Gu of its own and a physical constitution stronger than the ancient eagle hound it faces. Normal year beasts can be enslaved, but ones filled with heaven’s will cannot be, and if anyone could do it at all they would have to be an incredible expert with extraordinary methods. Those heaven’s will year beasts come from Thousand Transformations Ancestor’s myriad tribulation, formed from his own flesh rather than born wild, and he sells them in treasure yellow heaven because they are his enemies and he cannot use them. ^{ch. 1399}

Year beasts carry time path dao marks. If Golden Age Platform wantonly extracts their strength, they can die and those dao marks are destroyed, leaving corpses of no value. The higher their rank, the larger their appetite, and their food remains year Gu. Strength among immemorial year beasts differs clearly, compared in the text to the spread among rank eight Gu Immortals. ^{ch. 1609}

Besides year beasts, the River of Time holds other lifeforms such as day beasts, month beasts, and dark web spiders. On one River of Time stretch Fang Yuan ignores those other kinds while taking in year beasts. ^{ch. 1630}
