Selling Year Beasts
Thousand Transformations Ancestor is furious to learn that Fairy Cui Bo, the third concubine he dotes on above his other wives, is in danger. He weighs two explanations: either her attacker has a background to rival a rank eight expert, or greed for Western Desert Zombie Alliance’s branch inheritance drove someone to risk his wrath. He holds down his anger and stays hidden, since meat lumps are still producing year beasts on his body, and exposing this weakness would draw every rival who knows he holds Reckless Savage’s true inheritance. He needs time to heal. He sends his concubine Hong Yun to find and save Cui Bo instead, lending her a rank eight Immortal Gu, his will, and immortal essence, since her own battle strength is low. Rather than kill for immortal materials the year beasts he cannot control, Thousand Transformations Ancestor decides to sell them in treasure yellow heaven. The first year beast he sends in emits a great treasure light, drawing Gu Immortal wills and the divine senses of immortals in the middle of a deal. He offers them as pure and natural, never touched by enslavement methods, and the watching Gu Immortals gasp that no such number of year beasts has been sold in fifty thousand years. He stalls each offer, promising to sell first to whoever buys the most, hoping one buyer will take the entire stock at a price set by each beast’s treasure light. Unlike natural year beasts these ones cannot be enslaved, since heaven’s will fills them, and only an extraordinary expert could manage it. The trade cannot last long, since word will spread the longer it continues. He is still negotiating with rank eight buyers and representatives of super forces, calculating that the completed sale could recoup his losses. ch. 1399
Feng Jiu Ge, closing in on Fang Yuan’s group, lands on the desert and finds an illusion formation he dares not destroy, since breaking even a mortal formation would alert them. Finding that the formation does not seal off the air, he seizes a passing gust of wind, cloaks himself with a concealed killer move, and slips through disguised as a natural breeze. Inside, a huge sand whirlpool opens before him. Looking around the whirlpool, he sees no sign of Fang Yuan and the rest. A dark hole sits at its center, and he jumps in without hesitating. ch. 1399
He descends alone through the spiraling tunnel into darkness. His investigative methods work even here, so the dark does not stop him. He then senses time path aura and realizes he has found the right place: likely a tributary of the River of Time. Entering the River of Time is far harder than reaching black heaven or white heaven, and only time path rank eight great experts enter it freely. Year beasts are rare across the five regions and two heavens because they live inside that river. If Fang Yuan follows the tributary, he could reach the River of Time and find Red Lotus’ true inheritance. ch. 1399
