Inside Eighty-Eight True Yang Building, Fang Yuan sees Reckless Savage Demon Venerable facing the immemorial desolate beast Primordial Ash Owl. The text calls immemorial desolate beasts overlords that have existed within heaven and earth since the immemorial era, with rank eight Gu Immortal battle strength. Southern Border’s Mount Snail is an immemorial desolate beast, an enormous river snail with a tall, tower-like spiral shell wrapped in green moss that reads as a mountain while its body stays hidden inside. Its body carries both enslavement path and earth path dao marks, and they surround it with an environment that spawns resources of both paths. Few Gu Immortals can control it, and it is very difficult even for rank eight enslavement path Gu Immortals, because the snail itself is full of enslavement path dao marks. ^{ch. 1315}

Rank eight battle strength does not make immemorial desolate beasts equal: narration sorts them into tiers within that rank. The myriad head coiling dragon is one of the weaker immemorial desolate beasts.
