Seven Extreme Desolation

During Longevity Heaven’s assault on Heavenly Court, seven Gu Immortals step from the phantom River of Time and name themselves the Seven Big Dipper Immortals. They are all from Huang Jin tribes of one historical period: three rank eights and four rank sevens. In their era, legendary immemorial desolate beasts wrecked the righteous path, so the Huang Jin tribes chose seven people to learn this ancient battle formation; they spent countless years calming the chaos and capturing the beasts. ^{ch. 1722}

Form and methods

The seven fuse into a three-headed four-armed black-gold giant with a huge metallic ring on its back: ancient battle formation Seven Extreme Desolation. Through the giant they cast tribal trump-card immortal killer moves, including Chanyu tribe’s winged blade, publicly recognized as the number one offensive method of Northern Plains’ Gu Immortal world, and Ye Lui tribe’s immortal binding rope, its number one capturing method. ^{ch. 1722} Winged blade can even cut the winds of assimilation for a time. ^{ch. 1723} Injuries to the giant’s body are shared by the Seven Big Dipper Immortals inside it. ^{ch. 1736}

Against Duke Long

The formation opens on Duke Long with winged blade, which he feels as fatal danger; he dodges the full cut but loses a dragon horn. ^{ch. 1722} Immortal binding rope then wraps him, and a second winged blade forces him to break free and retreat while answering with Spiraling Dragon Fang. With Seven Extreme Desolation restricting his attacks, the Heavenly Court clash deadlocks again for a stretch. ^{ch. 1723} Ancient battle formations can use and amplify the methods of the Gu Immortals inside them, uniting their strength so that one plus one is more than two; that combined power is why Seven Extreme Desolation can resist Duke Long when ordinary piled cooperation would not. ^{ch. 1724} Later in the same war the giant joins Calamity Luck Altar against him, trading pitch-black needles for his Qi Current Scissors until both sides take damage and Duke Long chooses to retreat for the first time on his own initiative. ^{ch. 1736}
