Chapter 1005

Tower Lord vows the enemy’s heaven-defying act will not succeed, and gathers Heavenly Court’s strength for another strongest attack. The Shadow Sect immortals activate their Houses to endure it: the attack from fate cannot be defended against. Fang Yuan spits blood as he recovers; even as an otherworldly demon he remains under the world’s influence. He sees the Immortal Gu Houses Unbreakable Iron Fortress, Blood River Chariot, and Nightmare Castle broken apart, falling as fragments. Graceful Chaotic Duel Stage has also suffered huge losses: up to a thousand mortal Gu dead, two Immortal Gu near death and unusable, three of its seven edges broken. But Fang Yuan is happy about this. ^{ch. 1005}

He wants Heavenly Court to keep attacking, since an opening would let him escape while it stays fixed on Shadow Sect. Heaven Overseeing Tower gathers white light again for another strike, but Sacred Feather City suddenly crashes toward Fang Yuan instead. He dodges rather than fight back. Suddenly Heaven Overseeing Tower shakes violently, its accumulated white light exploding and vanishing. The Tower is left heavily damaged, and the Heavenly Court immortals inside spit blood under the backlash. ^{ch. 1005}

Seven Star Child’s voice declares that Tower Lord has fallen for their trap. More than ten Shadow Sect Gu Immortals, led by Seven Star Child, Bo Qing and Ying Wu Xie, have gathered inside Sacred Feather City, their last House after the other six were destroyed. The Heavenly Court immortals conclude the Tower must carry a traitor, since Shadow Sect never struck it directly. Tower Lord fixes his suspicion on Bi Chen Tian and Lian Jiu Sheng, who had helped repair the damaged Tower, and the other immortals encircle the pair. ^{ch. 1005}

Bi Chen Tian, shocked, defends himself: Heavenly Court has stood three million years without a traitor, and this may be Shadow Sect’s trick to sow dissension. Lian Jiu Sheng laughs darkly, saying Heavenly Court’s age alone makes any trial outdated and infiltration easy, and suspicion turns to him. He declares that Lian Jiu Sheng never existed, and dies, destroying his own immortal aperture to unleash a burst of winds of assimilation. Tower Lord and the others quickly quell the winds. ^{ch. 1005}

Lian Jiu Sheng’s death leaves doubt whether he was the only traitor. The Heavenly Court Gu Immortals grow suspicious of each other, and some still eye Bi Chen Tian warily after his release. Tower Lord reports forty percent of the Tower destroyed. Using its strongest attack again would only break it apart. Shadow Sect succeeds only because fate Immortal Gu is incomplete, an opening they exploit from Red Lotus Demon Venerable’s achievement, since an intact fate Gu would have let the Tower stop its own attack without backlash. Tower Lord argues that Lian Jiu Sheng was exaggerating, since a spy able to keep lurking would not expose himself. Morale rises, and the immortals agree that destroying the formation remains the priority. ^{ch. 1005}

Heaven Overseeing Tower crashes down like a meteor; Shadow Sect opens a gap rather than block it. Sacred Feather City blocks Fang Yuan’s attempt to leave, and the three Houses fall into a chaotic battle. Despite its damage, Heaven Overseeing Tower still charges with unstoppable might, and Shadow Sect barely contests it. Fang Yuan focuses on evasion. His own losses are the smallest of the three, being least affected as an otherworldly demon. ^{ch. 1005}

Fang Yuan resolves to preserve his strength while Shadow Sect and Heavenly Court weaken each other. Tower Lord tells his immortals the same: the longer they stay, the stronger the tribulations grow, and the higher their chances of winning. Bo Qing calls for Shadow Sect to stall as well. Seven Star Child explains that the longer this drags on, the higher Ying Wu Xie’s cultivation climbs and the deadlier his move becomes, since dream path lies beyond this era and Heaven Overseeing Tower has almost no defense against it. All three, Shadow Sect, Heavenly Court and Fang Yuan, are each stalling for time, and who gets the last laugh remains unresolved. ^{ch. 1005}
