Thought, Will, and Emotion

Wisdom path seeks knowledge and is split into thought, will, and emotion. Thought is the foundation. Many thoughts gather into will. Many wills intertwine into emotion. Thoughts are like weeds, easily created or destroyed. Will can be everchanging: firm as steel, empty like vacuum, or fierce like fire. Emotion is like water: hard to cut away, and when deep it has great control over oneself. Of the three, emotion is the hardest to get rid of, while thoughts are the most easily destroyed and created. ^{ch. 574}

A will does not form from randomly scattered thoughts alone; it is the linking of countless thoughts. When a will thinks, it spends its own thoughts to fuse and create new thoughts, so the more a will thinks the more damaged and weak it becomes unless a living main body replenishes it. ^{ch. 574}

Inside the true inheritance secluded domain, Mo Yao compares thought and will. Thoughts are like water droplets, the easiest to create and the most fragile. Will, like an ice cube, has greater defense, is harder to create, and can move independently and be recalled when needed. Wills are the product of many thoughts fusing together, more complex than thoughts, and they can lie. Thoughts are simple and not good at deception; a land spirit formed from obsession only spoke the truth. ^{ch. 598}

Among wisdom path Gu that produce wills, special will Gu, deliberate will Gu, play will Gu, keep will Gu, new will Gu, and battle intent Gu each make a different will type. Special will Gu produces special wills and can also devour them; deliberate wills are hard to erase without the matching Gu; play wills are the will type most able to create emotions. ^{ch. 598} Special will as a type is covered on special will.

Special wills can be given set situations so they activate when those conditions are met. Fang Yuan injects special will into his Gu worms after learning from Mo Yao’s fake will and Giant Sun’s special will in Eighty-Eight True Yang Building, including a timed self-destruct if the limit is exceeded. ^{ch. 1021}

Emotion path originates from wisdom path. Wisdom path still holds the three elements of thoughts, wills, and emotions even after that smaller path is named. ^{ch. 1156} Immortal Gu Regret sits on the emotion branch of wisdom path, and after later Gu Immortals form emotion path it is also counted there. ^{ch. 1649}

True meaning is considered a type of will on the same three-element ladder of thoughts, wills, and emotions. Absorbing true meaning is why dream realms and places such as the northern icy plain can raise attainment levels far faster than ordinary accumulation. ^{ch. 1552}
