In Longevity Heaven, Giant Sun Immortal Venerable’s rank nine grotto-heaven, golden light bathes the Four Desolations and azure light shines over the Eight Extremities. These terrain names mirror the sovereign immortal aperture’s nine heavens and five regions. At their heart stands the rank eight Immortal Gu House Calamity Luck Altar, three floors of round altars with white jade railings. It resonates through all of Longevity Heaven. Eight Gu Immortals hold the altar’s nine corners and control its operation. At its center Five Elements Grandmaster, one of Northern Plains’ five rank eight existences, sits ringed in five colored light and resists its might. ^{ch. 1180}

Heaven Extremity, leader of the eight, urges him to surrender, saying he might survive once the Four Desolation Immortals awaken. Five Elements Grandmaster answers that despite Longevity Heaven’s might, the Eight Extremities have not even broken the first layer of his five elements ring. Heaven Extremity sneers that he does not understand Calamity Luck Altar’s true power, which reverses calamity and luck into each other without end, a profundity belonging to heaven and earth luck. Hearing that name, Five Elements Grandmaster’s smugness vanishes. ^{ch. 1180}

Giant Sun Immortal Venerable created luck path and built his cultivation in three parts, self luck, all living beings’ luck, and heaven and earth luck, the last and deepest made in his later years. Stalled in his advancement, Five Elements Grandmaster sneaked into Longevity Heaven to steal that inheritance. Longevity Heaven’s defense exceeded his expectations even with the Four Desolation Immortals asleep. After a fight he was trapped and suppressed inside the altar. ^{ch. 1180}

He recalls Giant Sun’s three rank eight Immortal Gu Houses and asks what reversing calamity and luck means. Heaven Extremity explains that Ancestor Giant Sun purposely left Calamity Luck Altar in Longevity Heaven to defend it. It turns any human calamity, like this invasion, into fortune feeding the grotto-heaven’s eternal existence. Earthly calamities and heavenly tribulations are reversed the same way into pure nourishment. Without absorbing any fragment of the immemorial nine heavens, Longevity Heaven weathers every calamity through the altar. Asked what calamity and luck are, Five Elements Grandmaster answers that heaven takes from surplus to fill deficit, so calamity takes and luck fills. Heaven Extremity states luck path’s three techniques: self luck replenishes the caster alone, all living beings’ luck takes others’ surplus to replenish him, and heaven and earth luck takes heaven and earth’s surplus to replenish him. ^{ch. 1180}

Five Elements Grandmaster sees why Giant Sun never entered Heavenly Court. Heavenly Court upholds heaven’s will. Heaven and earth luck usurps that authority, turning calamities and tribulations into fortuitous encounters. Heaven Extremity presses that if heaven cannot destroy Longevity Heaven through ordinary calamity, it will use a human calamity instead. He adds that Five Elements Grandmaster, without realizing it, was pushed here by heaven’s will to become that. Five Elements Grandmaster laughs that even if heaven’s will moved him, it is also his intention. He believes man will triumph over heaven, whose will cannot compare to humanity’s. ^{ch. 1180}

Heaven Extremity laughs that he must read The Legends of Ren Zu often. It holds Ren Zu’s human path true inheritance. Five Elements Grandmaster admits he only grasps that human path triumphs over heaven path. He has heard that Giant Sun Immortal Venerable stalled after creating self luck until that book inspired all living beings’ luck, then ascended to Immortal Venerable before creating heaven and earth luck. Five Elements Grandmaster asks if they see Northern Plains’ trend as clearly as humanity’s. Northern Plains’ demonic path is rising while its righteous path declines: Eighty-Eight True Yang Building’s collapse let lone immortals and demonic cultivators grow strong, and Bai Zu tribe has given the righteous path a different bloodline. Giant Sun Immortal Venerable’s hereditary monarchy was a grand but restrictive aspiration; Northern Plains belongs to every Northern Plainsman, not to a man dead this long. ^{ch. 1180}

Heaven Extremity and the other seven erupt in fury, calling it nonsense. Five Elements Grandmaster stays calm, saying their anger is fear. The Huang Jin tribes look strong but are rotten within, like Central Continent’s ten great ancient sects. He asks how many of Northern Plains’ rank eight Gu Immortals carry Huang Jin bloodline. Old Ancestor Xue Hu is demonic path, and he is a lone immortal.
