Black Heaven

Originally the immemorial nine heavens would take turns to loom over the five regions at set intervals, and heaven and earth were connected so people could walk from ground into sky. Northern Dark Ice Soul walks aimlessly until he leaves the ground into deep black heaven. It is complete darkness inside, yet not desolate: large numbers of life forms live there. The only source of light in the entirety of black heaven is a lump of fire that is fire Gu. Fang Yuan later says only black heaven and white heaven are left from the immemorial nine heavens, and that walking meat tree is a life form from black heaven still easier to obtain because black heaven remains. ^{ch. 722}

Immortal Gu Houses break through the heavenly wind qi wall and reach black heaven. ^{ch. 1239}

Black heaven is covered in darkness, a dark veil shrouding the surroundings, with small specks of blurry light far away. Each layer of the immemorial nine heavens has the collective size of the five regions; because of Ren Zu and his ten children, only black heaven and white heaven are left. Gu Immortals who pass the heavenly wind qi wall enter it; rank eight Gu Immortals usually explore the immemorial nine heavens for resources, while special rank sevens such as Feng Jiu Ge and Chu Du can enter at high risk. Black clouds are common there: the smallest take minutes to fly past, and the real giant black clouds are like floating continents, with fierce beasts or plants deep inside. Star fragment grass and insect groups can grow on a black cloud’s surface. ^{ch. 1241}

Qi tides from the fused five regions sweep the whole world, and black heaven and white heaven are not exempted; wherever a qi tide reaches, grotto-heavens can no longer stay concealed. Many grotto-heavens hide within black and white heaven. After humans dominate the five regions, variant humans choose black and white heaven as top places to relocate; those heavens become their foundation while human Gu Immortals mostly explore them for resources and rarely place grotto-heavens there. ^{ch. 1969}

Star Constellation Immortal Venerable states that before Spectral Soul became a Demon Venerable, while exploring immemorial black heaven, he found that heaven’s heavenly spirit, used food path methods to devour it into his stomach, and fused it with himself. Black heaven’s and white heaven’s heavenly spirits originate from the immemorial two heavens and hold authority over them, as a land spirit or a grotto-heaven spirit does over its ground. With the fusion of both heavens the two heavenly spirits also seem to fuse, and whichever side wins becomes the new core of the fused heaven. ^{ch. 2233}
