Zhan Bu Du

As a broke rank one Gu Master, Zhan Bu Du studies the local Gu Master market, which trades in beasts and plants rather than Gu worms because the grotto-heaven’s own killer move makes fusing with a beast or plant far cheaper than traditional cultivation. A falling desolate beast egg hatches into an arrowtail eagle chick at his feet and imprints on him as its closest kin; the old Gu Immortal riding its mother turns out to be Mountain Cliff City’s lord, who takes the boy in as a disciple and names him Little Du. ^{ch. 1824}

When a fat butt bird flock bombards Mountain Cliff City with its own filth, Little Du sneaks out, fuses with the arrowtail eagle through Combat Beast Envoy transformation, and grows into a three-metre eagle-headed giant with azure wings and yellow bird claws to fight in the aerial battle. He becomes the household’s favourite, taken as a godson by the city lord’s daughter-in-law, and is stopped short of killing the bird king only by Mountain Cliff City Lord; the calamity, and his rescue of a guard who once mocked him, spread his reputation through the city. ^{ch. 1853}

When Fang Yuan’s main body sets a Twelve Zodiac battle formation in the grotto-heaven’s tributary of the River of Time and triggers a false tribulation, Mountain Cliff City Lord is trapped inside along with other Combat Beast Warriors, and Zhan Bu Du volunteers to enter the golden fog and save them. Inside, the fog’s accelerated time flow lets him cultivate at speed, reaching rank three within days and rank five by the time the rescue ends, all while playing the devoted disciple searching for his master. ^{ch. 1854}

Zhan Bu Du keeps entering the golden fog to save more Combat Beast Warriors, quietly sacrificing a few of the youngsters travelling with him who would otherwise threaten his future standing, and rescues Mountain Cliff City Lord last of all. The grateful Combat Beast King names him the grotto-heaven’s little savior, and Zhan Bu Du privately plans to wait for a Gu Immortal breakthrough and then accept an open test to become the inheritor of Beast Calamity Immortal’s true inheritance. ^{ch. 1855}

When a monster too strong for the injured Mountain Cliff City Lord threatens to destroy the city, Zhan Bu Du insists on a risky immortal ascension to unlock the arrowtail eagle’s full strength; helped in secret by Fang Yuan’s own memories and foundation, he ascends without incident, becomes a Combat Beast Warrior, and defeats the monster, earning a reputation as one of the youngest Combat Beast Warriors in the grotto-heaven’s history. ^{ch. 1868}

Touring Sacred Eagle City as Eagle Warrior’s guest, Zhan Bu Du engineers an immemorial desolate eagle attack that only he secretly arranged, then repeatedly saves the badly injured Eagle Warrior from it. Sheltering under the City Lord Manor, he prays at an old altar said to hold a portion of the first generation Combat Beast King’s sealed power; the altar answers him, shatters, and passes its power into him, and Eagle Warrior proclaims him “World Savior Little Du.” ^{ch. 1878}

As Fang Yuan’s own tampering with the grotto-heaven’s time flow spirals into overlapping tribulations that merge into rampaging poisonous smoke dragons, Zhan Bu Du becomes Star Collection City’s strongest Combat Beast Warrior, fighting for three days and nights without sleep and warning the major cities early enough to save hundreds of thousands of lives. When the current Combat Beast King sends him to claim the last portion of Beast Calamity’s true inheritance under Star Snail Hall, the qilin heavenly spirit acknowledges him as master of the complete inheritance. Fang Yuan’s main body then arrives openly to disperse the poisonous smoke, and Zhan Bu Du greets him as “Father” in front of the whole city, which believes the two are secluded-cultivator father and son. ^{ch. 1917}

With Zhan Bu Du acknowledged as the grotto-heaven’s owner, Fang Yuan annexes Beast Calamity grotto-heaven and splits its major cities, Sacred Eagle City, Dark Valley, Spirit Spring Forest, Mountain Cliff City, and Star Collection City, into five different mini regions of his sovereign immortal aperture. Zhan Bu Du introduces the old Combat Beast King to his new home and to an information path mortal Gu for contacting the others, presenting Fang Yuan’s methods as his own inheritance’s teaching and asking the king and the other Combat Beast Warriors to learn traditional Gu cultivation, while keeping the truth of his father’s identity a secret at Fang Yuan’s own request. ^{ch. 1919}

Zhan Bu Du controls the five regional limit formation’s five-coloured smoke miasma to hold off Heavenly Court reinforcements attacking the Southern Alliance, cautioning the Southern Border Gu Immortals that more enemies are coming and showing open contempt when they ask to shelter inside his formation instead of fighting. When Zhang Fei Xiong’s charge cracks the formation, Zhan Bu Du takes the backlash and spits blood, but he is prepared to fight to the death for the formation’s stalling value, treating the risk to this clone as an acceptable cost. ^{ch. 1929}

By this stage Zhan Bu Du cultivates transformation path, has risen to rank eight, and has his own totem killer moves, though his battle strength still falls short of a rank eight peak like Qin Ding Ling or Wu Yong. Fang Yuan gives him the killer move incomplete freedom transformation, a fusion of internal breathing green fish transformation, devouring blue leopard transformation, and thunder rush yellow bird transformation that instantly grants pseudo venerable battle strength, letting him move at lightning speed, shoot lightning bolts, regenerate, and devour incoming attacks. Inside Thieving Heaven’s true inheritance space he restrains Heavenly Court’s Fairy Yu Xiu and Fairy Ming Hao while Fang Yuan deduces the inheritance’s true location, though the two pseudo venerables prove too wisdom-path-savvy for him to land a hit. ^{ch. 2175}

Defending Book Mountain’s approach, Zhan Bu Du repeatedly kills the revived legendary beast Ruan Dan, whose pill path healing brings it back each time until the killer move weakens. Heavenly Court then commits Qing Chou, revived after the pursuit battle and rebuilt as an armoured general of Divine Emperor City’s divine bean soldiers, to hold him off; Qing Chou’s karma divine tree counters his fists for a moment, but incomplete freedom transformation’s pseudo venerable strength soon lets Zhan Bu Du gain the upper hand. ^{ch. 2180}

Alongside Fang Yuan, Immortal Zombie Giant Sun, and Qi Sea Ancestor, Zhan Bu Du tears through Heavenly Court’s ranks toward the immortal graveyard, wearing a blood-red cape as Heavenly Court loses Qing Chou and Star Constellation Immortal Venerable’s full strength to other fights. He breaks free of Duke Mei’s hair-based binding technique with thunder rush yellow bird transformation’s lightning and kills him with a single punch through the skull, then breaks Duke Tong’s arm bare-handed, punches through his ribs to destroy his heart, and finishes him by crushing his skull between both hands after Duke Tong keeps fighting through the fatal wound. When Divine Emperor City’s painting path defenses block his chase after their fleeing phantom apertures, he pulls back rather than risk being sealed in its painting world, and Star Constellation Immortal Venerable’s humble reciprocation killer move soon forces him and the rest of Fang Yuan’s side onto the defensive. ^{ch. 2191} When Fang Yuan later sacrifices Qi Sea Ancestor as bait to lure Heavenly Court into a revival scheme, Zhan Bu Du is kept in the dark about the plan just as Qi Sea Ancestor himself is. ^{ch. 2329}
