Good Child
A huge flock of fat butt birds approaches Mountain Cliff City, one of the ten most special cities in Beast Calamity grotto-heaven, and the city fills with extreme vigilance. The bird king, twice the size of an ordinary fat butt bird, drops a huge lump of dung the size of a hut that destroys a segment of the city wall. Few are hurt. The flock then rains dung that crushes many houses and covers the City Lord statue. The Combat Beast Envoys fly out and fight the birds in a huge aerial battle. ch. 1853
Zhan Bu Du, a disciple of Mountain Cliff City Lord and in truth Fang Yuan’s clone, sneaks out with the arrowtail eagle on his shoulder. He knows the young eagle’s nature, so a little provocation stirs its battle intent. He activates Combat Beast Envoy transformation, fuses with the eagle and becomes a three meter giant with an eagle head, azure wings and yellow bird claws. He soars in. ch. 1853
The lord’s daughter-in-law worries as she watches. Her only son died in childhood, and she has made Zhan Bu Du her godson. The lord’s son, with only his upper body left, praises the disciple, and the lord says the youth is the son’s godson too. The lord had adopted him by coincidence because the eagle treated him as family, then found a raw talent who works very hard and is brave and kindhearted. He is very satisfied. ch. 1853
In the sky, Zhan Bu Du’s wind blade kills a fat butt bird chasing a Combat Beast Envoy. The envoy is a Mountain Cliff City guard who used to look down on him, and being saved regardless of their past conflict leaves the guard with a complex feeling. Zhan Bu Du urges him to regroup. The lord’s evaluation of the youth rises. ch. 1853
Fang Yuan had picked this guard as a foil. He chose a seemingly vicious enemy who was harmless to him, staged a brawl, let the man beat him in public, and asked the lord for harder training without a reason. The calamity gives him a better chance, and he saves his enemy under everyone’s supervision. Fang Yuan is very grateful to the guard too, and thinks the main body’s luck path attainment is deepening. ch. 1853
After the intense battle the birds lose. Zhan Bu Du almost kills the bird king, but the lord transmits his voice and stops him. The youth later asks why, and the lord says another king would be chosen, while the dung makes the soil fertile, helps the wheat and draws caravans that trade goods for it. Fang Yuan’s clone is deeply surprised that dung is a treasure, and the lord teaches him not to judge a book by its cover. The lord privately thinks there are other reasons, but the boy is too young to learn them. ch. 1853
Fang Yuan leaves the manor and watches the city begin to rebuild. The calamity has given his clone a huge amount of reputation and a deeper understanding of the world. The bird king is a mutated beast king with rank five battle strength, and he, a rank one Gu Master, almost killed it by fusing with the eagle. Battle strength comes too easily in this grotto-heaven for traditional Gu Master cultivation to prosper, or the city would have dozens of Gu Houses as defensive towers. Even so, the calamity has merits: the dung fertilizes the land and draws caravans, and the pressure recruits talent and unites the city. The killer move myriad beings assimilation transformation, spanning the grotto-heaven, lets Gu Masters transform by spending positive emotions, so Combat Beast Envoys usually have plenty, yet the higher-ups stay crafty. ch. 1853
In the outer city, people greet him as young master, and he asks to be called Little Du. He takes a shovel from an old man and digs up dung for him. The old man, moved to red eyes, calls him a good child. Fang Yuan thinks his main body is about to act and must unleash a beast calamity far worse than the birds. The city people praise him immensely, unaware of his vicious scheme against the entire grotto-heaven. ch. 1853
