Ruan Dan is Heavenly Court's immemorial green jade crane, a legendary immemorial beast nurtured by Immortal Crane Sect and named as the creator of pill path.

Bing Sai Chuan expects green jade crane Ruan Dan to join the Heavenly Court fight and names Ruan Dan with Cang Xuan Zi as the remaining two legendary immemorial beasts. He says Ruan Dan is an immemorial green jade crane, nurtured by Immortal Crane Sect, that created pill path, and that it resides in Heavenly Court to cultivate in normal times. ch. 1712

Appearance

Mao Li Qiu sees a Gu Immortal sitting on a cloud and recognizes the green jade crane posing as a human. When forced into true form, the green jade crane flaps its wings; Mao Li Qiu grabs its leg and slams it into the ground, forming a huge pit. ch. 1712

Killed and revived repeatedly

Against Zhan Bu Du, the great legendary immemorial beast Ruan Dan cannot put up a fight. After its skull is smashed, the immortal killer move Life-Saving Recovery Pill heals the corpse and revives it. Zhan Bu Du recognizes pill path and notes that even Fang Yuan’s main body does not understand it, so he cannot easily unravel the healing. Zhan Bu Du keeps punching Ruan Dan to death on the spot; each revival grows dimmer while Shabi Ninety-five rushes to help a friend despite ordinary arguments between them. ch. 2180

After the battle of Crazed Demon Cave, Fang Yuan lists Ruan Dan’s pill path among Heavenly Court methods he now understands in depth, together with Door of Life and Death’s immortal graveyard and Transient White Cloud City Suppression. ch. 2215
