Chapter 1083

Fang Yuan turns most of his attention to his immortal aperture, where light path mortal Gu carry the flowing light fruits up to the highest layer. He reasons he cannot copy a land spirit’s trick of teleporting by space path dao marks, since a land spirit is a different kind of being. He decides instead to arrange a transportation Gu formation inside his extremely vast aperture. Gathered at one spot, the fruits self-detonate into aurora light. ^{ch. 1083}

He gathered the fruits to feed Attitude Gu, but even given its long feeding intervals, their quantity falls far short of what a rank eight Immortal Gu needs. So he detonates eighty percent of the fruits into aurora light and lets the remaining twenty percent float in it, nourished into more fruits. His sect contribution points, recently raised, bought this supply. He plans next to bring in Dazzling Light Gu to grow the aurora, though the sect’s treasury holds neither that Gu nor its Scorching Swan Stones food, so the plan waits on treasure yellow heaven reopening. ^{ch. 1083}

Attitude Gu is still far from starving. Fang Yuan is only preparing ahead, since his many Immortal Gu mostly do not yet need feeding and ample time remains before the second earthly calamity. He reasons that Attitude Gu still carries Hei Lou Lan’s will, but Hei Lou Lan has betrayed their old agreement by siding with Ying Wu Xie, which should have lifted part of the information path restrictions on Fang Yuan. That means he can now refine it completely into his own. Refining it is no simple matter, since Attitude Gu is rank eight against his rank six, and forcing it risks destroying the Gu. He names his method the wisdom refinement formation, built from the light of wisdom around cores Woman’s Heart and Unravel Mystery. It had already produced Change Soul, Sword Eyebrows, Flying Sword, Sword Escape, Wave Sword, and rank eight Wisdom Sword Gu. ^{ch. 1083}

The plan stalls since Wisdom Gu does not acknowledge him, an acknowledgement that needs his soul back in his original body. He turns instead to feeding Wisdom Sword Immortal Gu, rank eight and classed under both sword path and wisdom path. It cuts the threads of love, the method Bo Qing used to escape love Gu’s dao marks. Bo Qing also used it to incite Fairy Mo Yao, of Spirit Affinity House, into rebellion and turn her to his own use. Already refined, it is hard for Fang Yuan to use. It needs rank eight immortal essence, and his green grape supply falls far short of that, unlike Attitude Gu, which runs on mental energy and is usable even at rank six. Multicolored Overlord Flowers, its food, need abundant illumination, an intense sweet scent, and pearl soil to mature, a demand many times harder than the rank six flowing light fruits since the flowers rank seven. ^{ch. 1083}

Illumination is hardest to meet: his aperture’s hundred or so light path dao marks give light but not enough, and using the fruits’ own aurora light would ruin his fruit plans. The lasting fix is more light path dao marks, gained through a light path calamity, which is up to heaven’s will, or by killing a light path Gu Immortal, which is dangerous. Fang Yuan once managed exactly that against Qi Zai, who underestimated him and gave chase, before Fang Yuan used the Five Regional Mountain Range’s terrain and Familiar Face to kill him and take both corpse and soul. Sweet scent and pearl soil are easier, though the blessed land holds none. Rank nine Wisdom Gu’s own feeding is already handled by the land spirit, on Lifespan Gu. ^{ch. 1083}

Feeding plans for the rank seven Immortal Gu come next: Change Soul, Sword Eyebrows, Wave Sword, Sword Escape, and Calamity Beckoning need careful arranging. Calamity Beckoning Gu is already fed, on the black blood of the six headed snake, a desolate beast whose corpse Fang Yuan bought in treasure yellow heaven, and he now means to move several six headed snakes into his aperture to breed. Fang Yuan recalls his rank seven Flying Sword Immortal Gu, still with Chu Du.
