Calamity Beckoning Gu

It is a rank seven Immortal Gu, a rank higher than Fang Yuan’s Spring Autumn Cicada. After nurturing finishes, it is grey, the size of a little finger, and shaped like a silkworm cocoon. ^{ch. 567 ch. 568} The text also names it a genuine self sacrifice Gu used to abandon oneself for others. ^{ch. 567} Narration calls it a luck path Gu refined by interaction with Divert Disaster Gu of Eighty-Eight True Yang Building. ^{ch. 568} It and Divert Disaster Gu are two sides of the same coin: one attracts calamities while the other diverts disaster. ^{ch. 567 ch. 568}

Mo Yao refined it to help Sword Immortal Bo Qing endure the tribulations of a rank nine breakthrough by drawing those calamities onto herself. ^{ch. 567} Spirit Affinity House records later restate that she refined it from luck path essence in Eighty-Eight True Yang Building for Bo Qing, that the copy drew away part of Bo Qing’s tribulation, that both still died, and that the copy was destroyed. ^{ch. 749}

Calamity beckoning Immortal Gu’s food is the black blood of the desolate beast six headed snake. ^{ch. 672}

Qin Bai Sheng introduces it as a rank seven luck path Immortal Gu that helps others by harming oneself: it helps another person undergo tribulation and attracts the calamity or tribulation onto the user. Nobody bids, and it goes unsold. ^{ch. 758} Qin Bai Sheng next offers Reverse Misfortune, another rank seven luck path Immortal Gu. Narration treats that Immortal Gu as similar to Calamity Beckoning Gu, both luck path and both rank seven, while the hall’s responses differ sharply. ^{ch. 760}

Fang Yuan lends calamity beckoning Immortal Gu to Chu Du while taking flying sword Immortal Gu and an eagle nest in return. With Chu Du’s help, this third calamity is far less dangerous for Fang Yuan than his first two, in which he was gravely injured. ^{ch. 1114} On the northern icy plain Chu Du activates the rank seven Gu so Fang Yuan’s sovereign blessed land entrance opens and spring dawn jade orioles and giant disaster blazing trees are forced out until the third earthly calamity ends. ^{ch. 1113}
