An immortal aperture is the small-world aperture a Gu Immortal forms after the mortal aperture breaks. At ranks six and seven it is a blessed land; at ranks eight and nine it is a grotto-heaven.
When a Gu Master advances to an immortal, the aperture transforms into an immortal aperture. That change is a qualitative evolution, like creating a whole new small world. ch. 610 Without advancing to Gu Immortal, there is no immortal aperture in which to store Immortal Gu such as Calamity Beckoning Gu. ch. 568
Blessed land and grotto-heaven
Unique body and land spirit
Every immortal aperture is unique and is part of the Gu Immortal’s body. If a Gu Immortal dies leaving lingering obsession, that obsession can combine with the heavenly power inside the immortal aperture and become a land spirit. ch. 610 A blessed land with a land spirit is the immortal aperture of a fallen Gu Immortal. ch. 616
Dao and dao marks
The immortal aperture, whether blessed land or grotto-heaven, is a small world that contains dao expressed as dao marks. Offense and defense of a blessed land turn on that dao mark composition. ch. 821
