Immortal essence is the fuel of Gu Immortals. Blessed lands spend it to endure, Immortal Gu drink it, and beads of different grades mark each immortal rank.
A blessed land without a land spirit is described as a sinking boat. Outsiders can plunder it, and exhaustion of immortal essence can finish its collapse. ch. 374 During Gu refinement in a blessed land, a land spirit can pour immortal essence so a mortal can activate an Immortal Gu that primeval essence alone cannot sustain. ch. 392
Rank six beads
In Hu Immortal blessed land, immortal essence fills an enormous golden bowl. Most of it has congealed into grape-like balls named green grape immortal essence, a store only rank six Gu Immortals have. Each pearl holds far more immortal essence than the store in the three kings blessed land. ch. 409 Green grape immortal essence continues on green grape immortal essence. Rank scale sits on ranks and realms.
Leftover stores after death
After Gu Immortals die, they form into the land spirit and no longer produce immortal essence. What remains can only decrease as it is used. ch. 460 Gu Masters cannot use others’ primeval essence, and Gu Immortals likewise cannot use the immortal essence of others. ch. 638
Grades by rank
Gu Immortals at rank six have green grape immortal essence. Gu Immortals at rank seven have red date immortal essence. Immortal apertures at rank eight create white litchi immortal essence. Bead grades continue on green grape immortal essence, red date immortal essence, white litchi immortal essence, and yellow apricot immortal essence. Earthly calamities, heavenly tribulations, grand tribulations, and myriad tribulations are ranked by increasing strength and arrive on schedules tied to those ranks. ch. 1007
