Chapter 460

Gui Wang and Loner Hong Yu wait on the dark clouds with the Hua Hai three immortals: Fairy Qing Suo in blue, Fairy Huang Sha in yellow and Fairy Fen Meng in pink. The three stand apart, as if on the other side. Fairy Qing Suo watches crescent lake while her sisters glance warily at the two men. All three feel revulsion at Gui Wang’s ugliness and contempt for Loner Hong Yu, who refined a Gu by killing his own parents and betrayed his brothers. Even so, the allure of the Immortal Gu recipes in Lang Ya blessed land is enough to make the righteous path sisters set their identity aside and collaborate. ^{ch. 460}

Lang Ya blessed land is extremely important because its former resident, Long Hair Ancestor, was the famous number one refinement path immortal. He had rank eight cultivation, was extremely proficient in refinement path, and had great talent there, rare even in immemorial times. He lived through the eras of Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable and Giant Sun Immortal Venerable, longer than either rank nine venerable lived, and both asked him to refine Gu. Later generations count at least thirty-eight Immortal Gu refined by him, not counting legends and rumors. He finally died of old age. Rumors say he became a land spirit still refining Gu in the blessed land. ^{ch. 460}

The earthly calamity begins as the space above crescent lake cracks open. Lightning smashes down and makes hole after hole in the blessed land, and Loner Hong Yu names it Endless Thunder and Lightning Rain. None of the five holds an Immortal Gu, though each has many top quality rank five Gu. The Hua Hai three go pale, saying that even together they might not withstand such a calamity in their own blessed land, and doubt the recipe can be snatched. Gui Wang’s earlier benefits brought them, but forcing their way in now looks hard. ^{ch. 460}

Gui Wang laughs that heaven sends calamities to wear down a blessed land’s fortune, so a calamity this strong proves that Lang Ya holds many Immortal Gu recipes. Loner Hong Yu agrees, Gui Wang adds that cultivation means going against heaven, and Fairy Qing Suo retorts that it follows the mandate of heaven. Loner Hong Yu drops the subject, which is the old, unsettled difference in ideals between demonic and righteous paths. Gui Wang urges a strike now, before the land spirit cuts off the holes, and Loner Hong Yu agrees. The three sisters let Gui Wang go first. His Gu worm is lost to the calamity, but his green grape immortal essence bead enters the blessed land and explodes, spending the blessed land’s own immortal essence. A dead Gu Immortal’s land spirit makes no new immortal essence, and its store only dwindles with use. ^{ch. 460}

The other four follow with beads of their own, yet after a hundred rounds the land still has essence to use. Fairy Fen Meng hesitates, saying one white litchi bead left by Long Hair Ancestor outweighs a hundred green grape beads. Gui Wang sneers that after the eras of Spectral Soul Demon Venerable and Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable, with Lang Ya fallen from grotto-heaven to blessed land, probably only diluted paste remains, and Loner Hong Yu agrees. Fairy Qing Suo speaks for the sisters and agrees to fifty more beads, after which the blessed land begins to fail. Thirty rounds later the beads cause a chain explosion. The land shows no activity, so its immortal essence is used up. ^{ch. 460}

Gui Wang flaps blue-black bat wings and is first through a hole into Lang Ya blessed land. Loner Hong Yu turns into a red light and speeds after him, and the Hua Hai three follow angrily, calling the demonic path men treacherous. Inside, their rank five Gu activate freely, and Fairy Huang Sha declares the essence definitely emptied. They cross the thunder to the depths, where twelve grand buildings stand in a sea of white clouds, and Fairy Qing Suo notes the fertile cloud soil that one can walk like real land. Fairy Huang Sha feels fortunate to see the buildings said to store countless recipes. Far off, Gui Wang shouts that everything is his and flies into one, Loner Hong Yu nears another, and the three sisters frown and fly separately to three more. ^{ch. 460}
