Blessed Lands and Grotto-Heavens

Every blessed land faces an earthly calamity every ten years and a heavenly tribulation every hundred years. A land spirit can prolong a blessed land that is near the end of its lifespan; without one, outsiders can enter and plunder, and exhaustion of immortal essence can finish the collapse. ^{ch. 374}

Immortal apertures of rank six and rank seven Gu Immortals are blessed lands; apertures of rank eight and rank nine Gu Immortals are grotto-heavens. ^{ch. 609 ch. 622 ch. 713} Ordinary personal blessed lands belong to one Gu Immortal, and when cultivation reaches rank eight that immortal aperture becomes a grotto-heaven. ^{ch. 795}

Blessed lands are also graded by size and foundation. Small, medium, and high grades differ in area, in how large a tributary of the river of time they draw, in how many immortal essence beads they form, and in whether leftover heaven and earth qi can refine a mortal Gu into an Immortal Gu. ^{ch. 609}

Some famous blessed lands are not one Gu Immortal’s private aperture. Super forces cut off portions of their own blessed lands and piece those portions into a shared camp, including Snowy Mountain blessed land among demonic path forces. Personal immortal apertures remain private storage and living space; damage to them is treated as a severe loss. ^{ch. 795}

Many factors can matter in a siege: whether the land is whole, whether a land spirit remains, immortal essence stocks, desolate beast guards, Immortal Gu, immortal killer moves, Immortal Gu Houses, and Gu Immortals defending it.
