Gu Masters at rank one to rank five all suffer the restraints of primeval essence. Only after going beyond mortal and becoming a Gu Immortal do they gain endless primeval essence. ch. 341

Mortal Gu Masters finish at rank five peak stage. Gu Immortals at rank six are beyond mortal, and becoming a Gu Immortal is only a new starting point. Immortal apertures of rank six and rank seven Gu Immortals are blessed lands. Path to rank seven
Every ten years a rank six Gu Immortal must weather an earthly calamity, and every hundredth year that calamity rises instead to a heavenly tribulation. Three centuries and three such tribulations later, rank seven follows. ch. 1097
