Strength Path and Ice Path
At the feast Wei Yang teaches Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing how Gu Masters are ranked. Ranks one to five are mortal and six to nine immortal, and not even one in ten million Gu Masters might become an immortal. Among the mortal ranks, one and two are beginners and four and five are a high level fighting force. Rank three is the middle that connects them, and the most important stage, since a Gu Master builds foundations and chooses a direction to advance. The Gu Master must then create a set of Gu worms along that direction. A plotter can collect thinking-assist Gu such as lightning thoughts Gu. ch. 275
The directions are attack, defense, healing, storage, movement and investigative, and Wei Yang himself is a movement type Gu Master with the rainbow light Gu as his core. Both of his listeners choose attack at once. A set helps in feeding, in use and in refinement, since similar Gu worms eat similar food and refine together more cheaply. In use, the light source Gu offsets the heavy expenditure of Wei Yang’s rainbow light Gu. Wei Yang shows this with Xiao Yan, whose core red fire Gu he supported with the duplicate Gu, the enlarge Gu, the fire source Gu and the fire discharge Gu. Xiao Yan complains that his secrets are dug up, but Wei Yang answers that everyone in the battle stage knows them. ch. 275
Asked for their cores, Fang Yuan wants to keep to strength and crush foes with overwhelming strength. Bai Ning Bing names the frost demon Gu, because her earlier rank three one was destroyed in the battle with Gu Yue Qing Shu and she still has lingering emotions towards it. Wei Yang says ice path is strong in defense. Its three most famous transformation type Gu are frost demon Gu, snow fairy Gu and ice crystal Gu, the first two for women and the last better suited to men. ch. 275
Wei Yang also warns against Fang Zheng’s strength path. Most of its Gu are cheap, so its Gu Masters are very ordinary. He wasted many primeval stones removing the strength he gained from it, and Fang Zheng, holding the purple thorn token and hundreds of thousands of primeval stones, need not take that narrow path. ch. 275
The two nod. Fang Yuan still wants the strength path and says he is definitely choosing it. Bai Ning Bing gives up the frost demon Gu for the ice crystal Gu, since it suits males. Choosing strength is part of Fang Yuan’s plan for the three kings inheritance in a few years, which he cannot mention. Wei Yang helplessly lifts his glass, swearing in his heart to change their minds, since the clan leader wants to recruit Fang Zheng. ch. 275
After the banquet, Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing show their purple thorn token at the Gu shop. She spends twenty-eight thousand primeval stones on a rank three ice crystal Gu, and he spends four thousand one hundred on a rank two brown bear innate strength Gu. Outside, Fang Yuan asks whether she really means to make the ice crystal Gu her vital Gu, and she says she has no intention of advancing to rank four. Her aptitude rose by one percent again. Her northern dark ice soul physique is a curse, and her aptitude would eventually return to a hundred percent, so she would rather give up advancing. Rank four yellow gold primeval essence is finer than white silver and would make her aptitude recover faster.
