Ice Crystal Gu

In Shang Clan City, Wei Yang teaches Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing how to pick a direction and build a Gu set. For ice path he names Frost Demon Gu, Snow Fairy Gu, and Ice Crystal Gu as the three most famous transformation type Gu. Bai Ning Bing buys a rank three Ice Crystal Gu for twenty-eight thousand primeval stones and means to make it her vital Gu. ^{ch. 275}

Form and rank

The purchase is a rank three Ice Crystal Gu. ^{ch. 275} It is again rank three Ice Crystal Gu when Yan Tu takes the Gu as battle stage spoils. ^{ch. 314}

No cited chapter describes the Gu worm’s resting look in the aperture. Activation shows the user’s body instead: flesh and blood convert into a diamond-like crystal form, the body grows two to three inches, and the surface reads as hard ice. ^{ch. 298 ch. 313}

Effect

It is a transformation Gu. Once activated, freezing sounds run through the body and the Gu Master becomes a humanoid ice crystal with firmer, colder blades if ice blades are already in use. ^{ch. 298 ch. 313} In that form, close range hits leave only small scars on the ice, so offense and defense sit in the same transformed body. ^{ch. 298 ch. 313}

It cannot be kept on for long. Extended use can finish the change into ice crystal and leave the user an ice sculpture. Bai Ning Bing pairs it with vitality Gu to hold life force and stretch the safe window, but vitality Gu only prolongs that window; it does not remove the limit. ^{ch. 297 ch. 313}

With Ice Explosion Gu, the transformed ice body also lowers self-injury when an ice blast reaches the user. ^{ch. 299}

In ice crystal form Bai Ning Bing can keep Frost Breath Gu running without the mouth and tongue freezes that force gaps while she is still in mortal flesh. Against Yan Tu she also runs Ice Crystal Gu with Ice Edge Gu, Swirl Gu, and Tornado Gu while reforming ice blade storm. ^{ch. 314}

Loss to Yan Tu

Fang Yuan refines the purchased Gu with Spring Autumn Cicada aura under their poison vow terms, then returns it so Bai Ning Bing can finish refining it as her own. ^{ch. 277} She later treats Ice Crystal Gu as her vital Gu and the core of an ice set that also uses vitality Gu against backlash, with Ice Edge Gu for close range and snowball or icicle Gu for long range. ^{ch. 297}

On the battle stage against Tie Dao Ku she activates it as her vital Gu after breaking his close range pressure, then fights in ice crystal form. ^{ch. 298} Against Yan Tu she brings it out again as her trump card when she needs higher offense, still running vitality Gu beside it. ^{ch. 313}

After she admits defeat, Yan Tu demands the Ice Crystal Gu under battle stage rules. She hands it over; as her vital Gu, losing it makes blood flow from her seven orifices. ^{ch. 314} Street talk after the match says Ice Crystal Gu is easy to find and that the loss will not weigh heavily on her. Narration states that the lost Gu could be replenished. ^{ch. 315} No cited chapter names a later purchase or trade that returns a second Ice Crystal Gu to Bai Ning Bing.

Path

Wei Yang places Ice Crystal Gu on ice path when he lists it with Frost Demon Gu and Snow Fairy Gu as that path’s three most famous transformation type Gu, and he says ice path’s advantage lies in defense. ^{ch. 275} The same three Gu are again named ice path transformation type Gu. ^{ch. 396}

Gender fit is stated for all three: Ice Crystal Gu is suited for men, while Frost Demon Gu and Snow Fairy Gu are suited for women. ^{ch. 275} Ice Crystal Gu is again suited for men and Frost Demon Gu for women. ^{ch. 314}
