Chapter 189

At sunset Bai Ning Bing stands alone on a slope, his life ending, surrounded by the remaining hundred Gu Masters of the Gu Yue and Xiong alliance. Fang Zheng, Xiong Jiao Man, Xiong Lin and Chi Cheng lead the young Gu Masters in urging him to back out, but he says only Gu Yue Fang Yuan is slightly interesting and creates an iceblade. His aura is overwhelming, and nobody dares attack rashly. Xiong Lin urges against a disordered joint attack, and Chi Cheng asks who should go first. Xiong Jiao Man steps forward, and her whistle brings over two hundred black bears, the one in front a hundred beast king. The wolf tide raised her to rank three, and her Bear Enslavement Gu rose to rank three as well, finally able to enslave bear-type hundred beast kings; this horde is her trump card. ^{ch. 189}

The Xiong clan Gu Masters get excited, while the Gu Yue clan looks complicated. After Xiong Li’s death, Xiong Jiao Man has become the Xiong clan’s number one contender. With Qing Shu and Mo Bei dead and Fang Yuan only C grade, many Gu Masters feel assured by the A grade Fang Zheng. Fang Zheng has seemed more mature this competition, killing many Bai clan Gu Masters, and means to take revenge for Lord Qing Shu personally. ^{ch. 189}

Bai Ning Bing’s Northern Dark Ice Soul physique is at its limit, his body starting to collapse as flesh and blood turn to ice and snow, and he will die soon. He resolves to grant everyone the death they seek, perhaps for some excitement. ^{ch. 189}

Not far away the three clan leaders watch in silence. The Bai clan leader, calm as water, thinks everyone has underestimated Bai Ning Bing. Gu Yue Bo thinks that if Fang Yuan really has the Desolate Yin Ancient Moon physique, they must protect him at all costs and take him to the blood lake graveyard. Tie Ruo Nan, whom he keeps as a secret captive, thinks about how to capture Fang Yuan herself. ^{ch. 189}

Underground, Fang Yuan curses on the Thousand Li Earthwolf Spider, which goes crazy and digs at random. He understands that under the Flower Wine Monk it fought First gen Gu Yue and was corrupted by the Blood Frenzy Gu. The Monk escaped on it, hurriedly made the secret cave and left his inheritance before dying, and the masterless spider frantically returned to its escape path and sealed itself in hibernation. Fang Yuan woke it hundreds of years later with the frenzy unsolved. He rides on, his control slipping but holding the general direction, with no idea where it will surface. ^{ch. 189}

By the last sunlight the bears have been exterminated, and fewer than thirty Gu Masters remain. Bai Ning Bing has beheaded Xiong Jiao Man, penetrated Xiong Lin with icicles, and frozen Chi Cheng dead in an ice coffin, caught mid-dodge with shock and fear on his face. Fang Zheng, full of frozen wounds, is alive by Bai Ning Bing’s choice. Bai Ning Bing finds him a lookalike but not the person he means. Bai Ning Bing is definitely a rank three, but his battle strength is almost rank four. He slashes at everyone with an iceblade grown almost five to six times its size. ^{ch. 189}

Gu Yue Bo moves to intervene, but the Bai clan leader stops him by invoking the agreement against interference. Gu Yue Bo protests that a rank three cannot have such strength and accuses the Bai clan of cheating. The Bai clan leader answers that Bai Ning Bing is the Northern Dark Ice Soul physique, a ten extreme aptitude, and Gu Yue Bo and the Xiong clan leader are shocked. A Gu Yue clan Gu Master reports a strange earthquake that has collapsed many of the clan’s own bamboo buildings and left the ground seeping blood water. Gu Yue Bo’s expression changes. ^{ch. 189}
