Chapter 1147

Snowmen weep at most three times in a life, and each tear that falls costs them lifespan and life essence, so an ice tear stays very rare and precious as a Gu refinement material. Among snowmen it also serves as a marriage token, exchanged with extremely huge meaning. At a gathering of the allied tribes, Xue Er hands Fang Yuan one such tear in front of the assembled Gu Immortals, an act that declares her love for him. Her face reddens as she does it. Fang Yuan, to all appearances ignorant of the custom, treats the gift as an ordinary find, thanks her for it, wonders aloud about refining it into a Gu worm, and calls the lack of any ice tear trade truly regretful. ^{ch. 1147}

Xue Er’s color drains to pale white, and tears rise in her eyes. Bing Zhuo, feeling intense pity at her humiliation, swallows his anger rather than shame her further and asks Fang Yuan only for a future spar. Fang Yuan pats Bing Zhuo’s shoulder and promises another spar should the chance ever come, then takes his leave in good cheer. Xue Er watches him go, her gaze somewhat dazed. Privately wanting nothing more than to chop Fang Yuan into pieces, Bing Zhuo instead resolves to write and explain the ice tear’s true meaning once Fang Yuan is far away. ^{ch. 1147}

Xue Er is gifted and highly cultivated, with no man of her generation worthy of her. The snowmen now ask why, with the rockmen having their Earth Mother, they should not have a Snow Father of their own, and a match with Fang Yuan would put an immemorial desolate beast behind the tribe. The journey back to Lang Ya blessed land passes without incident. Lang Ya land spirit’s attitude toward Fang Yuan has changed hugely, and he presses eagerly to see Hei Fan’s true inheritance and the immemorial upper extreme heavenly eagle. Fang Yuan, bitter, produces only the eagle’s corpse. Lang Ya land spirit is stunned where he stands, hears the whole event from him, and is relieved the egg survives, which he calls the eagle’s special point. ^{ch. 1147}

Lang Ya land spirit wants to buy the egg, but Fang Yuan questions whether Lang Ya blessed land holds heavenly crystals to raise it, a very precious and rare rank eight material of which even treasure yellow heaven sees very few transactions. Heavenly crystals come only from grotto-heavens or the immemorial nine heavens, of which only black heaven and white heaven are left. Lang Ya land spirit answers that his blessed land once produced heavenly crystals as Lang Ya grotto-heaven, and that his main body also hoarded a large stock from the immemorial nine heavens, so Fang Yuan agrees to sell. Lang Ya land spirit offers him his pick of the luck path, Thieving Heaven or Long Hair true inheritances, then Luo Po Valley, then the Heavenly Essence Treasure Imperial Lotus with an incomplete Immortal Gu House Refinement Cauldron. Fang Yuan refuses each in turn, calling the price somewhat too low. Lang Ya land spirit retorts that the eagle still needs heavenly crystals to be fed and might never obey Fang Yuan, and that he was really lucky it starved rather than crushing him for trying to enslave it. Fang Yuan answers that he would rather spend his own Lang Ya Sect contribution points on heavenly crystals to raise the eagle himself. ^{ch. 1147}

Mid argument Fang Yuan grasps another of Hei Fan’s intentions. The eagle left behind in Iron Eagle blessed land would be an extremely huge gain for the tribe even with no inheritor at all. Lang Ya land spirit scolds him for never having meant to sell and gives up, his mood lifting at the thought that holding the crystals lets him bait Fang Yuan into working for Lang Ya Sect. He is greatly disappointed the eagle is now only an egg, though reassured that Fang Yuan remains bound by both Lang Ya’s alliance agreement and the four races alliance. Fang Yuan’s own contribution points already number over two thousand, a thousand for settling the falling star hound matter and nearly another thousand for spurring the four races alliance, but even that total falls short of heavenly crystal prices. Lang Ya land spirit offers another thousand points for a further task: rope in Domination Immortal Chu Du, and turn him against the humans to join Lang Ya Sect instead. ^{ch. 1147}
