Heavenly crystal

Fang Yuan recognizes the translucent crystal that forms a floating eagle nest as heavenly crystal, a rank eight immortal material. Heavenly crystal comes from the sky, is very light, and can float; it does not fall to the ground unless forced. The outer nest alone holds five hundred kilograms of heavenly crystals. ^{ch. 1115}

When refinement path methods reverse refine the nest, the crystals regain nine colors that match the immemorial nine heavens. Hei Fan had fused those rank eight immemorial materials until their colors faded into one whole, and the nest crystals in fact come from the immemorial nine heavens rather than from Hei Fan grotto-heaven alone. With only black heaven and white heaven left, later Gu Immortals mostly seek such crystals in scattered fragment worlds of the destroyed heavens. ^{ch. 1115}

Inside the opened nest, vision is covered by heavenly crystals in a grand nine-color scene, yet a search lasting hours finds nothing else of value besides those crystals and a dead egg. Even without Hei Fan’s true inheritance, an entire nest of rank eight immortal materials still has great value: Fang Yuan judges that all his other accumulated resources, Immortal Gu aside, cannot match half that nest’s worth. ^{ch. 1116}

The upper extreme heavenly eagle’s food is heavenly crystals. A newly hatched eagle pecks a piece from the nest, breaks the hard crystal like tofu in its beak, and eats until, over the next few days, half the heavenly crystal eagle nest is consumed. That feed rate is a high price for raising immemorial-level battle strength, and Fang Yuan later feeds crystals from the nest while riding the growing eagle. Its claws can also scratch heavenly crystals apart like thin paper. ^{ch. 1118}

Hei Fan grotto-heaven’s heavenly crystal storage pool sits in the sky under layers of Gu formations, with crystals only at the center. Crystals produced there are light azure, and heavenly crystals take different colors by production site. The pool produces them only in a grotto-heaven; a blessed land cannot run that production. Fang Yuan expects the pool stock plus the nest to last five to six years of feeding, and notes that heavenly crystals are not easy to buy in treasure yellow heaven. ^{ch. 1133}

When time path methods speed the eagle’s growth, it needs many heavenly crystals every day and huddles in the nest eating madly while its body matures. The nest is eaten by over half as the eagle reaches an ancient desolate beast aura, then the crystals finish and the eagle starves with its mouth shut against other food. ^{ch. 1141} Forcing growth again later with insufficient heavenly crystals leaves it on the verge of dying from hunger. ^{ch. 1145}

Heavenly crystals can only be produced in grotto-heavens or the immemorial nine heavens, and they are a precious and rare rank eight immortal material. Only black heaven and white heaven remain of the immemorial nine heavens, rank eight Gu Immortals are few, and some of them cannot produce heavenly crystals. Lang Ya blessed land once produced them as Lang Ya grotto-heaven, and Lang Ya’s main body also hoarded a batch from the immemorial nine heavens. Treasure yellow heaven has very few heavenly crystal transactions. Sect contribution points can buy some of Lang Ya’s stock, but even a large point total is still short of easy rank eight material prices. ^{ch. 1147} Fang Yuan later spends half of his Lang Ya Sect contribution points on heavenly crystals and still lacks enough to hatch the next upper extreme heavenly eagle egg. ^{ch. 1148 ch. 1149}

Fang Yuan asks around in treasure yellow heaven for anyone selling heavenly crystals and finds only two on offer. One holder is a rank eight Gu Immortal who wants to trade for materials Fang Yuan does not have. The other, a rank six Gu Immortal, has half a piece of heavenly crystal from a fortuitous encounter and wants to sell it. Before Fang Yuan can buy it, another Gu Immortal who wants heavenly crystals even more buys it at three times the usual price. Fang Yuan gives the half piece up: his resources are ample, but the fifth earthly calamity is near and he judges so tiny a heavenly crystal not worth it. ^{ch. 1177}

A heavenly crystal is white and gold in a translucent state. A young upper extreme heavenly eagle pecks it apart like tofu and eats it until satisfied after six crystals. Fang Yuan stocks crystals from Lang Ya land spirit and from Heavenly Lord Bai Zu’s grotto-heaven supply for that feeding. ^{ch. 1183}

Heavenly crystals are rank eight immortal materials and are rarely sold in treasure yellow heaven. Fang Yuan’s stock is mostly from trading with Heavenly Lord Bai Zu, and it depletes as the upper extreme heavenly eagle grows. ^{ch. 1210}
