Duke Long's Sacrifice

Red Lotus has come to win Duke Long over, having found no way in countless rebirths to destroy fate Gu completely, but Heavenly Court’s secret defeats his plan. Duke Long urges him to stop, saying the righteous path often brings sacrifice, as Star Constellation Immortal Venerable sacrificed herself and Red Lotus’s parents and wife died to pave his road to Immortal Venerable. Red Lotus refuses, since this is the path he wants to walk. Duke Long, who expected this, says he will teach by his own example. ch. 1748

He activates a prepared arrangement, the immortal killer move Dragonman Extermination, and Red Lotus senses that every dragonman in the world has been killed, including Duke Long’s own children and grandchildren. Duke Long, the ancestor of dragonmen and the first dragonman, built this arrangement into the transformation method so that he could eliminate the others through his identity. Star Constellation’s will had earlier instructed him to spare the dragonmen for now and make use of them later. He judges the dragonman race a hidden threat, since its numbers would keep rising while humans grew fewer, and another dragonman revelation would have unimaginable consequences. Red Lotus’s visit, he realizes, is the timing Star Constellation’s will predicted, and the extermination’s value lies in persuading his disciple. Tears fill his eyes, but he feels no regret at killing his own descendants. ch. 1748

Duke Long cries that Heavenly Court’s power lies in generations of Gu Immortals who sacrificed themselves, and that Red Lotus enjoyed the fruits of that sacrifice. He tells Red Lotus to come back and follow the arrangements of Fate, but the persuasion fails. Back on the Infallible blessed land battlefield, Duke Long says Fairy Zi Wei had deduced Dragon Spirit’s existence, and activates Dragonman Extermination again. Bai Ning Bing coughs blood and dies in Dragon Palace. Dragon Spirit watches in fright but cannot grasp why, since it was born long after the dragonmen were exterminated. ch. 1748

In Heavenly Court, Fairy Zi Wei checks Spectral Soul’s prison and finds a remnant soul with no Gu worms or immortal essence. She had deduced Dragon Spirit’s existence from her doubts that an ownerless Dragon Palace could capture the Four Dragon Generals, which she found extraordinary. Heavenly Court knew when Dragon Spirit tried to hoodwink Duke Long, and Fairy Zi Wei laid Hidden Dragon Cave as a trap for the Eastern Sea Gu Immortals, Dragon Spirit and Di Zang Sheng. She then enters an Immortal Gu House holding benevolence Gu. Her target is Fang Yuan’s Spring Autumn Cicada. ch. 1748

Dragon Palace is blown away, the dream path killer move breaks, and Heaven Overseeing Tower returns to solid form as its Gu Immortals laugh that the bait plan has succeeded. Fang Yuan admits the battle is lost, and Bing Sai Chuan still sends Gu Immortals at the tower, which retreats extremely quickly. Fang Yuan plans to leave with a rank eight killer move built on Fixed Immortal Travel, but Heavenly Court’s Gu Immortals led by Lu Wei Yin surround his side. Lu Wei Yin casts eight points sanctum, a sand sphere that covers the Gu Immortals and blocks every immortal killer move, even those of Calamity Luck Altar. His display completely throws the Southern and Northern immortals into despair. ch. 1748

Duke Long breaks free of Di Zang Sheng and forcibly refines Dragon Palace again, saying that complete control will make Di Zang Sheng submit and give Heavenly Court history’s strongest immemorial desolate beast. Heaven Overseeing Tower activates fate vanquish, which suppresses Di Zang Sheng and instantly kills over half of the Gu Immortals on Fang Yuan’s side, with Fang Yuan alone immune. Close to ten rank eight Gu Immortals then surround him, and he suspects they are aiming at his Spring Autumn Cicada. Di Zang Sheng’s enormous head crashes into the encirclement as it rushes to reinforce Dragon Palace. Dragon Palace self-detonates, leaving only a small foundational floor and several pillars. Fang Yuan’s clone activates Spring Autumn Success, Lu Wei Yin shields the Gu Immortals again, and Fairy Zi Wei activates Benevolent Equality at the same moment. ch. 1748

Duke Long tears through the sanctum around him and carries the remnant Dragon Palace forward, and Di Zang Sheng lowers its head to him in submission. Fang Yuan’s killer moves are all blocked, and Duke Long strikes him directly, scattering his flesh and bone as his soul dissipates completely. Fang Yuan is dead. Some Southern and Northern immortals surrender, while Bing Sai Chuan and others attack Duke Long and are killed. The long war ends, and Central Continent fills with cheers. Duke Long thanks Lu Wei Yin for lending benevolence Gu and promises rewards. ch. 1748

Duke Long secretly asks Fairy Zi Wei whether Benevolent Equality worked, and when she confirms it and offers to attack Lu Wei Yin, he forbids it, since nobody would dare side with Heavenly Court later. The move is only insurance, he says, and whether or not Fang Yuan is reborn, Duke Long can repeat the fight while he lives. Duke Long says their plan has finally been achieved, and Fairy Zi Wei, choking with emotion, agrees that repairing fate Gu lured the other four regions into invading, united Central Continent against a common enemy and removed internal spies. Fairy Zi Wei knows Duke Long is about to die. Duke Long laughs, unconcerned about his death, and says her presence lets him rest at ease. ch. 1748

Feng Jin Huang arrives under Feng Jiu Ge’s protection and weeps, and Duke Long tells her not to grieve, since a new generation cannot emerge without the old departing. He secretly instructs her to become an Immortal Venerable and lead Heavenly Court to unite humanity and establish unprecedented supremacy, since no internal threats remain and the people’s hearts have merged. The regional walls then completely disappear, the earth veins connect and the five regions merge into one. Duke Long says the great era has arrived, and dies. To the countless people of Central Continent, his invincible figure remains deeply imprinted. ch. 1748
