Long Ling is the son of Wu Shuai and Tai Qin, named at birth for his large, lively, and spiritual eyes.
After Tai Qin gives birth, Wu Shuai places the baby beside her. He says the child has large, lively, and spiritual eyes and that they should call him Long Ling. A translator note states that this is Dragon Spirit in Chinese. Tai Qin nods that Long Ling is a good name. Wu Shuai wants him to live properly and proudly as a dragonman. ch. 1845

Palace spirit form
Inside Dragon Palace a peculiar life form stands before Bai Ning Bing: a young boy with horns on his head and a tail behind his back, bright eyes, cute and adorable. It says a blessed land has a land spirit, a grotto-heaven has a heavenly spirit, while Dragon Court has it, Dragon Spirit. It explains that dragonman Gu Immortals created Dragon Court, that Duke Long changed the name to Dragon Palace, and that it acknowledges Bai Ning Bing as master because she is a dragonman who escaped fate and opposes Heavenly Court. It asks her to subdue Di Zang Sheng and lead the dragonman race. ch. 1746

Childhood without Tai Qin
The child grows up asking where mother is and why she is not back. Each time, Wu Shuai squats, hugs young Long Ling tightly, and lies to him. Narration calls the young and innocent Long Ling like an antidote, the only thing that can heal Wu Shuai’s broken heart. ch. 1845
Dragon Spirit greeting
After about a million years inside Dragon Palace, only Wu Shuai’s will remains. Dragon Spirit appears with a reverent expression and a trace of happiness, greeting master and saying Dragon Court finally has a new master. The dragonman clone looks at Dragon Spirit intently, eyes turning red, and really wishes that at this moment Dragon Spirit could call him Father. He says it is impossible now, and that he has let Tai Qin down and could not complete her final request. ch. 1845
Master conditions
Fang Yuan reasons that the Dragon Spirit can control Dragon Palace like heavenly spirits and land spirits, can acknowledge a master and exist indefinitely, and that acceptance needs dragonman identity and the aspiration to develop the dragonman race. He also links the prior-life acknowledgement of Bai Ning Bing to needing her soul to help enslave Di Zang Sheng. ch. 1849
