Chapter 1845

Wu Shuai returns to South Flower Island, where Tai Qin gives birth, and he names their son Long Ling with her approval. He is very happy, but he senses that his burden has grown heavier, since Huang Wei and his father have passed away. He wants Tai Qin to have a proper status and the child a bright future as a proud dragonman. After resting for a few days he sets out again to collect dream path immortal materials. The refining of Dream Token happens within his dream, and when the last step comes the final revelation is that Tai Qin must willingly sacrifice her own life. He refuses absolutely. ^{ch. 1845}

For days Wu Shuai wanders immemorial white heaven like a ghost, until an immemorial desolate beast that nearly kills him brings him back to his senses. He kills it but finds no solution. He halts the refining and seeks more revelations, and the next night’s revelation is that Duke Long has an immortal killer move that can exterminate the dragonman race and that he has wanted to use it many times. Wu Shuai returns to Central Continent, where Duke Long and Red Lotus are in growing conflict, and his father’s death has won him Duke Long’s deep trust despite Heavenly Court’s suspicion. Investigating with all his manpower and the dreams, he learns the move is named Dragonman Extermination. Duke Long left it behind as a hidden card when he created the race, it would make every dragonman self-detonate, and only Star Constellation’s will has kept him waiting. ^{ch. 1845}

The dream then returns to the refining of Dream Token and says he must refine it first to deal with Dragonman Extermination. Wu Shuai wakes in tears and tells Tai Qin the truth. She accepts quickly, says she is willing to give everything, her life included, and asks him to nurture their child well, and he promises. Dream Token is refined, and rank eight Dragon Palace is built next. When young Long Ling asks where his mother is, Wu Shuai hugs him and lies each time, and the boy is the only thing that heals his father’s broken heart. ^{ch. 1845}

Holding rank eight Dragon Palace, Wu Shuai no longer seeks fame or glory. He secretly targets Green Ant Ascetic, Wine Fairy and Calligraphy Pavilion Lady and enslaves them all. He could now imprison Shu Jiu Ling and torture Fan Ji to death before her, but instead he lets her go to the person she truly loves. The dreams say that to settle the matter of Dragonman Extermination he must use Dragon Palace for experiments on dragonman bodies, and with the lifespan extension method he already grasps he can reverse-deduce the move. He gathers all the dragonman Gu Immortals in Dragon Palace, tells them the truth and begs for help. They doubt him at first, but facts and evidence they cannot deny, and Gu Liang’s testimony that Wu Shuai’s father found the secret that dragonmen will reign supreme, make them believe. ^{ch. 1845}

Wu Shuai warns that the experiments need a vast number of dragonmen, almost all of whom will die, and asks for objections. His cousin, the seventh young master whom Duke Long dotes on, objects and calls him insane. The seventh young master charges that Wu Shuai killed his most loyal sworn brother to gain Heavenly Court’s trust, killed his own father to hide the secret, and used his beloved wife as Gu material. He blames Wu Shuai’s ambition for the conflict with the humans and for Duke Long’s intent to wipe out the race, and calls his whole life a tragedy. The hall falls silent, and Wu Shuai sits on his throne expressionless. ^{ch. 1845}

The dream realm fades, and the Four Dragon Generals look at Fang Yuan’s dragonman clone, who walks out of Dragon Palace in the depths of the sea. A million years have passed, and the clone says he is back but no longer himself, since only his will remains. Dragon Spirit appears and greets him as master, saying Dragon Court finally has a new master. The clone wishes Dragon Spirit could call him Father, but that is impossible now. The clone, Wu Shuai, says he has let Tai Qin down by failing her final request, and he does not cry, because his tears ran dry a million years ago. ^{ch. 1845}
