Paper Crane Gu

Fang Yuan buys Paper Crane Gu from a shop in Shang clan city while refining, and feeds colored copies into Lion Roar Gu as part of making a temporary Eating One’s Words Gu. It comes in light blue, dark green, pink, and several other colors, and is especially used to send letters. ^{ch. 278}

It takes the form of a paper crane and comes in light blue, dark green, pink, and several other colors. ^{ch. 278} Shang Yan Fei’s messenger copy is bright red. ^{ch. 311}

Form and rank

Fang Yuan bulk-buys the market form, rank two Paper Crane Gu, together with dog enslavement Gu and exploding egg Gu. ^{ch. 323} Paper Crane Gu again carries the rank two label, along with the phrase “common rank two paper crane Gu.” ^{ch. 324}

Early chapters that show purchase, letter flight, and inheritance use do not state what Paper Crane Gu eats. ^{ch. 278 ch. 311 ch. 323}

Effect

It is especially used to send letters. ^{ch. 278} In Shang clan practice, Shang Yan Fei wills a bright red Paper Crane Gu into a secret room as a letter to Ju Kai Bei and Yan Tu, and later sends another paper crane secret letter along a dark path the same way. ^{ch. 311 ch. 315}

Owning Paper Crane Gu is also the entry key for King Xin Inheritance. Old Zhang states that to enter the blue pillar a Gu Master needs to have Paper Crane Gu. ^{ch. 324} At the start of that inheritance, a Gu Master can use Paper Crane Gu while other Gu besides Spring Autumn Cicada are suppressed, and the activated crane floats ahead and leads the way. ^{ch. 346 ch. 356 ch. 357}

Shang Yan Fei’s messenger use

After Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing scheme against Shang Ya Zi, Shang Yan Fei sends a bright red Paper Crane Gu as both punishment and a test, delivering orders to his hidden rank four pawns Ju Kai Bei and Yan Tu. ^{ch. 311} He later sends another paper crane secret letter into the same secret room, telling Ju Kai Bei that if he wins he should seek Heavenly Essence Treasure Lotus and must not choose All-Out Effort Gu. Yan Tu analyzes that Shang Yan Fei wants to protect Fang Zheng’s growth. ^{ch. 315}

Three Kings Inheritance key

Once news of the Three Kings Inheritance breaks, Fang Yuan mass-purchases rank two Paper Crane Gu in Shang clan city as one of the three entry Gu, alongside dog enslavement Gu and exploding egg Gu. ^{ch. 323} Buyers in the city then find those Gu priced about three times as before. ^{ch. 324}

King Xin developed a unique set of Gu worms from the common rank two Paper Crane Gu, which let her get information easily and helped expose a Wu clan security loophole. Cited chapters do not name the later rank three lightning symbol paper crane Gu as one member of that set. ^{ch. 324}

On San Cha mountain, Fang Yuan activates Paper Crane Gu inside King Xin Inheritance; it floats ahead and leads him through grey fog while heavenly power suppresses his other Gu. ^{ch. 356 ch. 357}
