Chapter 1770

Fang Yuan stores the Gu worms taken at contact heart river bank, a mid sized resource point of Southern Border’s Chi clan. Contact heart Gu among them number over three thousand at rank five, fifty thousand at rank four and over a million at rank three and below. Strength path Immortal Gu Pulling Water, rank six as in the previous life, pulls the river water, dense with wisdom path dao marks, into his immortal aperture. Most dao marks stay in the soil, which he cannot lift. Lifting it needs at least peak rank seven earth path methods that spare the wisdom path dao marks, since destroyed dao marks would leave the soil little value. Heavenly Court likewise can destroy Infallible blessed land, but drawing out its success dao marks took human path methods and the long labor of the Central Continent Refinement Path Convention. ^{ch. 1770}

Chi Qu You is slightly hopeful that the news is false, but a killer move resembling Fixed Immortal Travel and Fang Yuan’s myriad dragon completely crush that hope. He admits Fang Yuan is a huge problem, since most Chi clan Gu Immortals cannot fight his rank eight battle strength and only Chi Qu You himself or a rank seven Immortal Gu House can. He judges that the theft path method is not Fang Yuan’s own but comes from the Thieving Heaven true inheritance of Lang Ya blessed land, which Fang Yuan needs time to master. Feeling really unlucky, he decides to counterattack. Chi clan’s benefits, status and his pride as a rank eight force his hand. ^{ch. 1770}

Chi Qu You arrives in Great Space Temple, but Fang Yuan is gone. The river bank’s formation is ruined, a vast number of Gu worms are gone, the river water has completely dried up and even the rocks are taken. The Chi clan Gu Immortals curse him and say the resource point may not recover for years, though its foundation remains. Someone suggests that the mysterious attacker of Plunder Shadow Earth Trench was Fang Yuan, which others find very likely, though they cannot see why he hid his appearance there yet exposed his identity here. With no evidence and no known motive, Chi Qu You, as puzzled as they are, orders an investigation and vows that Fang Yuan will pay a hundredfold, but Fang Yuan cleaned the scene and no clue of value remains. ^{ch. 1770}

Chi Qu You has no hope of deducing Fang Yuan, since Chi clan is weak in information path and wisdom path. Regaining reputation would take heavy spending on clues, hiring a rank eight wisdom path or information path great expert, and an ambush, with no certainty of a kill. Even Heavenly Court failed: Thunder Ghost True Monarch had three rib bones sold, Lang Ya was annexed, Feng Jiu Ge’s Immortal Gu were stolen and Fairy Zi Wei had to announce the loss. Chi Qu You feels extremely deep wariness toward a man with no clear weakness. He decides to give up if Fang Yuan stops targeting Chi clan’s resources. ^{ch. 1770}

In public Chi clan will be very angry and upset to protect its reputation, but secretly Chi Qu You will restrain his Gu Immortals and maintain resources. He hopes Fang Yuan targets other clans and convinces himself this is wise. Mobilizing everyone could give Fang Yuan huge problems, but Chi clan would pay an immense price. With many other resource points, Chi clan might lose some reputation but would keep its foundation, and going down in flames would only help other super forces. ^{ch. 1770}

Chi Qu You calms down. A report then arrives that Fang Yuan has appeared at cloud bamboo mountain range, destroyed the formation, overwhelmed its two Gu Immortals and is scavenging resources, including a newly formed wild wood path Immortal Gu. Chi Qu You’s expression freezes, his heart instantly filled with overwhelming rage, and he curses Fang Yuan’s ancestors. ^{ch. 1770}
