Chapter 1704

On Carefree Island, territory of Grand Pavilion Sect, three Gu Immortals relax as a round of the Gu refinement competition nears its end. One of them suddenly dies, his soul dissipated. Every Gu Master in the competition falls dead as well. Ying Wu Xie appears, and the two remaining rank seven Gu Immortals attack him but collapse, already struck. He keeps the three corpses because the sect leader wants their immortal apertures, and leaves the island with no living being on it. ^{ch. 1704}

At the upper stream of scale light river, Hei Lou Lan shatters an immortal formation at its maximum defense, and the backlash makes the defending Gu Immortals spit blood. She then sends strength path phantoms against them. In Hundred segment forest, Bai Ning Bing walks through bamboo frozen solid, where the hundreds of mortal Gu Masters on the competition stage are statues and none survive. Future self was used on these three on the stone lotus island, making them elites among rank seven Gu Immortals, and Fang Yuan is pleased. ^{ch. 1704}

In Heavenly Court, Fairy Zi Wei is grim, because the huge price she paid for time path immortal materials from treasure yellow heaven failed to restrict Fang Yuan’s growth. Duke Long is visibly moved. He says he underestimated Fang Yuan and names the three’s strength burst as the killer move Future Self. His first disciple created it after Spring Autumn Cicada’s rebirth cost that disciple his venerable cultivation. Fairy Zi Wei, in disbelief, notes that the Red Lotus true inheritance Spectral Soul obtained lacks future self, and asks whether Fang Yuan already holds another. Duke Long says it seems they now need to watch Fang Yuan closely, and he dares not look down on Red Lotus Demon Venerable. ^{ch. 1704}

Fang Yuan then vanishes while the three keep winning, and Heavenly Court dreads when he will strike. Duke Long never shows up, and the convention continues through its obstacles. With fewer Gu Masters left the locations shrink, so each grows stronger and the three must work together. Bing Sai Chuan proposed at the start that he and Fang Yuan destroy the convention together, yet Longevity Heaven has still not shown up. Fang Yuan knows Shadow Sect and he cannot stop the competition unless another strong force joins. Duke Long’s calm keeps the other four regions’ Gu Immortals from acting, so Fang Yuan has to be the vanguard. ^{ch. 1704}

After long thought, Fang Yuan has the three stop attacking competition locations and plunder resource points instead, posting each video in treasure yellow heaven. In the first few days the three gain greatly, but the tactic does not work well and Fang Yuan is unhappy. Then Northern Plains’ Sleeping Lady completely plunders a resource point at Combat Immortal Sect’s formation. Gu Immortals resembling Xiao Hu Chi and Xiao Shi Rang empty glass mountain range, and the three Gu Immortals stationed there die. Mysterious Gu Immortals steal an immemorial immortal material bound for Immortal Crane Sect. Gu Immortals from the other four regions and lone and demonic immortals of Central Continent all come to try their luck, and the whole continent falls into chaos. ^{ch. 1704}

Fang Yuan laughs, because greed draws Gu Immortals who would balk at attacking the convention into plundering instead. Fairy Zi Wei grits her teeth and wants him to die a terrible death. Duke Long sighs deeply that people’s hearts have changed, yet continues pushing the convention forward. Heavenly Court has massed its forces around the competition locations, leaving its resource points relatively weak, so Fang Yuan’s new plan is a direct counter. Duke Long’s determination does not waver, and Fang Yuan, no match for Heavenly Court and wary of becoming a stepping stone before other forces join, will not act rashly and waits silently. ^{ch. 1704}
