Chapter 1409

Fairy Zi Wei watches two Heavenly Court Gu Immortals through Star Constellation Chessboard. Fang Yuan’s upper extreme heavenly eagle escaped into black heaven using the black-white overturning cloud, but the investigative methods already used on it will let them sense it once they fly up through the heavenly wind qi wall. Confident after recovering from their setback, they hold that the eagle needs to fail only once for them to capture it with no escape. The chessboard then shows Feng Jiu Ge, who left the River of Time by a different tributary and is now in Western Desert, far from Fang Yuan and unable to return the same way. ^{ch. 1409}

Fairy Zi Wei calls Feng Jiu Ge a Dao Guardian whose luck is firm enough to counter Fang Yuan. Other Heavenly Court Gu Immortals would instead have their luck suppressed by Fang Yuan and turned to his benefit, as the eagle’s escape from two of them already showed. She plans to send Feng Jiu Ge after Fang Yuan to force him toward Red Lotus’ true inheritance and drain his trump cards, intending to kill him personally once he is weakened enough to be sure of it. She has not acted yet because Fang Yuan still holds hidden trump cards. Duke Long is deep in Heavenly Court suppressing Spectral Soul’s main body, so she must oversee Central Continent herself, and with the great era coming and Southern Border already shaking, Central Continent’s position is too disadvantageous to leave unprepared. Even with self love Immortal Gu, Fang Yuan has not escaped her control, and the eagle, though it fled, is still pursued and not safe. ^{ch. 1409}

Fairy Zi Wei is more concerned with the stone lotus island in the River of Time, unable to explain why Red Lotus’ true inheritance appeared and vanished again. She sighs. Star Constellation Chessboard makes her one of the three strongest wisdom path great experts alive, yet she feels her own inability against the mysterious Red Lotus Demon Venerable, once thought to become Heavenly Court’s future head as Red Lotus Immortal Venerable. ^{ch. 1409}

In black heaven, on a rare, yellow-green patch of heaven attached fungi, a young Gu Master named Ye Fan successfully activates a killer move of his own creation, aurora bird, built from his transformation path and light path understanding. Heaven attached fungi is a rank six immortal material of the immemorial nine heavens, growing only where no other dao marks, life forms or meteorites lie near. The bird destroys the fungi where it lands, leaving a tiny pit. His mysterious master, dressed in grey hemp cloth with a wide conical hat hiding all but his chin, only comments plainly that it is not bad. He tells Ye Fan they must part, since he cannot stay by his side. ^{ch. 1409}

Ye Fan once aided Shang Xin Ci as clan leader of the mortal Shang clan. He later suffered a near fatal defeat against Bai Ning Bing, and afterward this mysterious Gu Immortal took him to black heaven to train, since it restricts his light path while remaining safe to cultivate in. His master reveals a second reason: he deduced that Ye Fan has karma waiting in black heaven. An injured upper extreme heavenly eagle, Fang Yuan’s, arrives after shaking off Heavenly Court’s pursuers and faints short of the fungi patch. The master catches it, shrinks it into his palm, heals its wounds, puts it to sleep, and tells Ye Fan it may be the key to resolving his karma, to be kept by his side until it wakes and leads him back to Southern Border. He then flies away, and Ye Fan, in tears, chases after him and asks for his name. The voice answers that his name is Lu Wei Yin. ^{ch. 1409}
