Dao Guardian

Feng Jiu Ge explains the office to Feng Jin Huang: in an Immortal Venerable’s or Demon Venerable’s cultivation journey there is always a Dao Guardian, and every Dao Guardian plays an important role in the development of the venerable. Duke Long tells Feng Jiu Ge that Feng Jin Huang is the prospective Great Dream Immortal Venerable and that Feng Jiu Ge is her Dao Guardian, naming Fang Yuan as the obstacle they must eliminate. ^{ch. 1442}

Duke Long tells Hong Ting that his greatest value in life is to teach and guide him toward the proper path, and names himself Hong Ting’s Dao Guardian. He repeats that as Dao Guardian, pointing Hong Ting toward the correct path is the meaning behind his existence, and under that guidance Hong Ting chooses time path and later becomes a time path Gu Immortal. ^{ch. 1677}

Heavenly Court Gu Immortals identify Duke Long as the master of Red Lotus Demon Venerable and as a Dao Guardian. They state that the Dao Guardians of venerables were usually the strongest person besides the venerable if they matured fully, with exceptions such as Reckless Savage Demon Venerable and Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable, and that these guardians were monumental in the growth process either way. ^{ch. 1721}

Red Lotus’ will tells Feng Jiu Ge that rank eight future self can instantly grant pseudo venerable battle strength because he is the Dao Guardian of the predestined Great Dream Immortal Venerable, and that in history matured Dao Guardians reached that cultivation level. ^{ch. 1965}

In summarizing what history shows about venerables, Fang Yuan notes that in the growth of every venerable there would be one Dao Guardian, that each plays a monumental role in the journey of that growth, and that the guardian can be either friend or enemy. ^{ch. 2085}

Limitless Demon Venerable tells Demon Immortal Qi Jue that Qi Jue is his Dao Guardian, that only at the brink of death could he understand the true relationship between a venerable and their Dao Guardian, and that he has comprehended the secret behind that office. He further states that their destinies are intertwined, and that by his deduction only with the help of the Dao Guardian can a venerable go one step further, break through the realm of venerable, and attain eternal life. ^{ch. 2208}
