Chapter 1442

More than a month later, Sun and Moon Temple, Spirit Affinity House’s time path Immortal Gu House, is taken out and set in the air above Central Continent, lit corner to corner in alternating sun and moon light. Supreme elders and other Gu Immortals gather in its main hall. Feng Jin Huang kneels there to Duke Long, kowtowing as she takes him as a second master despite already belonging to a sect, a ceremony he has ordered kept simple but held to a high standard. She offers him golden jade dew tea, which he praises, calling her a refinement path great grandmaster whose tea brewing is naturally extraordinary, before accepting her as his second disciple. Immortal music plays as she kowtows again, now addressing him as master. The ceremony closes after more than two hours. Duke Long tells her she will return with him to Heavenly Court the next day, then dismisses the others, keeping Feng Jiu Ge, Fairy Bai Qing and his new disciple behind. ^{ch. 1442}

Duke Long asks whether the mission to kill Fang Yuan failed, and Feng Jiu Ge admits shame. The tributary of the River of Time they guarded in Western Desert showed no sign of him, though two other rank eight Gu Immortals remain there building an Immortal Gu formation. Duke Long calls Fang Yuan the only complete otherworldly demon and Heavenly Court’s worst enemy, the target Feng Jiu Ge must eliminate. He then reveals a heavenly secret already known to Shadow Sect: Feng Jin Huang is the prospective Great Dream Immortal Venerable, and Feng Jiu Ge is her Dao Guardian. The coming great era, he says, will bring an unprecedented transformation to heaven and earth. Duke Long pauses to let the reveal sink in before vanishing from the hall. ^{ch. 1442}

Left with her parents, Feng Jin Huang asks what a Dao Guardian is, and Feng Jiu Ge answers that every Immortal or Demon Venerable’s rise always keeps one at their side, playing an important role in the venerable’s development. Fairy Bai Qing tells her daughter to cultivate hard for the new era, her eyes filling with emotion. Feng Jin Huang then asks about Duke Long’s first disciple. Her parents’ expressions change slightly as they trade a glance, and Fairy Bai Qing warns her never to raise it again, especially at Heavenly Court before her master. Feng Jiu Ge finally answers: her senior brother, Duke Long’s first disciple, was Red Lotus Demon Venerable, the most mysterious in history. ^{ch. 1442}
