Ten Great Sects

Several months before the inheritance climb, the ten great sects send an order at the same time to organize a great competition for elite disciples and determine rankings. Elite disciples from the ten great sects gather at the foot of Tian Ti for that climb. Gu Immortal talk at the mountain names Spirit Butterfly Valley’s Xiao Qi Xing and Myriad Dragon Dock’s Ying Sheng Ji among the outstanding juniors of that generation. ^{ch. 365}

Narration later calls the ten great sects the heads of Central Continent and says even Southern Border’s top clans cannot compare to them. In that generation’s ranking talk, disciples such as Fang Zheng, Fairy Bi Xia, Gu Ting, and Wei Wu Shang sit only in the second tier, while the first tier includes Feng Jin Huang of Spirit Affinity House, Ying Sheng Ji, and Xiao Qi Xing. The same stretch treats the Hu Immortal Inheritance contest as a battle between the ten great sects, with disciples as chess pieces and the Gu Immortals of the ten sects as the players behind the scenes. ^{ch. 366}

Black Heaven Temple is called one of the ten great ancient sects when Central Continent Gu Immortals argue over reputation while hunting in Northern Plains. ^{ch. 811} Wind Cloud Manor is likewise named as one of the ten when Hong Chi Ming’s Gu formation background is explained. ^{ch. 923} Combat Immortal Sect states the same membership when explaining its disciple selection rules. ^{ch. 1227}
