Chapter 691

Iron Eagle blessed land, Hei tribe’s base camp, widens toward the sky and holds countless eagle nests. Four supreme elders of Hei tribe sit in a garden pavilion at its highest point. Hei Cheng arrives and pays his respects. He returns the rank six Immortal Gu House Dark Prison to first supreme elder and reports a smooth trip that suppressed Qiao tribe. Qiao tribe is a large tribe that grew tempted to break away once every Hei tribe member inside Imperial Court blessed land had perished. ^{ch. 691}

Second supreme elder recalls guiding Qiao tribe’s immortal, Qiao Dong, to ascension decades earlier, and is displeased his loyalty wavered so soon. Hei Cheng answers that he already taught Qiao Dong a lesson and expects no more trouble within five years. The suppression was only an excuse prepared beforehand. Qin Bai Sheng’s incident is heating up over Giant Sun’s inheritance, drawing even rank eight Gu Immortals toward a strike. Fourth supreme elder adds that with Imperial Court blessed land destroyed too, the contest has lost its meaning and no one knows what the Huang Jin tribes will follow now. Hei Cheng promises to handle the tribes more strictly, naming the vassals Qiao, Huo and Zhuo. Third supreme elder, noting the whole of Hei tribe died inside Imperial Court blessed land, orders him to rebuild it in northern plains. The elders return to a tile game invented long ago to flatter first supreme elder, and Hei Cheng handles nearly all of Hei tribe’s outside affairs. Third supreme elder loses a hand and forfeits a Gu recipe he spent thirty years researching. Hei Cheng takes his leave as they shuffle for another round. ^{ch. 691}

Hei Cheng flies southwest from Iron Eagle blessed land and meets Xue Song Zi. Xue Song Zi asks which force controls fixed immortal travel Immortal Gu. Hei Cheng answers at once: Immortal Crane Sect, one of central continent’s ten ancient sects. He reasons that Dong Fang Chang Fan had already linked Eighty-Eight True Yang Building’s collapse to central continent, and that the immortal zombie beside Hei Lou Lan also controls Fixed Immortal Travel, so the two are likely the same force. Xue Song Zi falls silent, caught off guard at the scale of force involved. ^{ch. 691}

Snowy Mountain is only a loose alliance of self-interested Gu Immortals, not bound the way the righteous path is. Hei Cheng’s own position is awkward too, since scheming against his own daughter cannot be admitted even by a two-faced Gu Immortal. Xue Song Zi breaks the silence: holding Hei Cheng’s secret, he now wants five hundred immortal essence stones and the yin-yang life extension method, having decided to withdraw once he judged Fang Yuan’s side too strong. Hei Cheng warns coldly that forcing the matter would ruin them both and gain him nothing. Hei Cheng shrugs that Xue Song Zi was naive to think he could stay out of this. Hei Lou Lan takes revenge seriously with Fairy Li Shan backing her, and Snowy Mountain would not favor him over its own leadership. Central continent’s ten great ancient sects are massing to strike northern plains, and amid that chaos Fairy Li Shan could kill Xue Song Zi without breaking the union pact.
