Ge Guang is Ge tribe's young tribe leader in Northern Plains, first seen leading Gu Masters against a wind wolf pack when Fang Yuan arrives under the Chang Shan Yin name.

Dozens of Ge tribe Gu Masters fight more than a thousand wind wolves on a hill when Fang Yuan is already moving through Northern Plains. Their leader Ge Guang curses the pack, cuts a wolf head with a sabre that then breaks, and bends under a leaping wolf so a teammate’s spiral water arrow can kill it through the mouth. He reforms a sabre from a palm imprint, refuses an east breakthrough as a wind wolf king trap, and orders a west break while leaving slaves to hold the mound. The same stretch names him young tribe leader and brother of Ge Yao, whom the search party has still not found. ch. 437

Rescue and return to camp

Fang Yuan’s poison beard wolves and later wind wolf fight reach the surrounded Ge Masters. Ge Guang is only rank three upper stage among them. He bows, places their lives under Fang Yuan’s command, then invites “Benefactor Chang Shan Yin” back to Ge tribe as guest repayment. ch. 438 On the road he works to form a relationship with that expert, and Fang Yuan’s wolf guidance breaks Ge Guang’s bottleneck. At camp the tribesmen cheer when Ge Guang waves, and Fang Yuan reads him as Ge Yao’s brother: forthright, glory above life, with a northern plains patriarchal mindset, angry that she fled her wedding, yet still bound to her as a sibling. ch. 439

Hints and clues Gu test

After Ge Yao’s death is reported, Ge Guang presses for hints and clues Gu as a further test of Fang Yuan’s innocence. ch. 447 The marked Gu show no holder within range, Ge Guang kneels to apologize, and Ge tribe leader gifts that rank five Gu to Fang Yuan as apology. ch. 448 Fang Yuan later names that gathering a moonlight banquet. ch. 449

Tribe leader succession

When the old Ge tribe leader dies under the night wolf king fight, he names Ge Guang Ge tribe’s leader with his last strength and warns him not to let emotions rule for the tribe’s sake. Ge Guang howls over the body, then succeeds to the position. Days later he brings Fang Yuan a rank four impermanence bone Gu in thanks, and the text states that setbacks forced him to mature and that his personality grew more steadfast. ch. 458

Alliance request under threat

Yan tribe visitors still sense him as only a rank three Gu Master. After they ask Ge tribe to help against Water Demon Hao Ji Liu, Ge Guang refuses: his father has just died in battle, he has only just taken the tribe leader seat, and Ge tribe has no strength left for that fight after its losses. ch. 470

After Ge tribe swallows Yan tribe spoils, Ge Guang reports the inventory, asks Fang Yuan for guidance, and receives Fang Yuan’s agreement to become Ge tribe’s external elder. Ge Guang shakes with joy and treats Ge tribe’s rise as bound to Wolf King Chang Shan Yin. ch. 477

When Bei, Pei, and Zheng tribes ally against Ge tribe, Ge Guang as tribe leader gathers the elders, reveals that Chang Shan Yin has agreed to become supreme elder, and looks to him for the answer. ch. 478

Imperial Court contest rank

In the Imperial Court contest stretch, Ge Guang is Ge tribe leader. He was originally rank three, then after many battles advances to rank four. Fang Yuan orders him to stand down when Hei Lou Lan watches, calling him a tribe leader who should not put himself at risk. ch. 538

Under Wolf King’s shade with resources and high position, Ge Guang and Chang Ji You are already rank four Gu Masters after that contest baptism. ch. 573
