Wind Wolf King
Fang Yuan rides the hump wolf toward the edge of poison grassland, following the direction Ge Yao pointed out. Only about ten Gu worms remain in his aperture, all northern plains Gu apart from Spring Autumn Cicada and moving perspective cup Gu. His southern border and central continent Gu are already in Hu Immortal blessed land. He has kept not a single primeval stone. Northern plains suppresses moving perspective cup Gu from rank five to rank four, so it holds only rank four Gu and cannot carry Fixed Immortal Travel Gu to the blessed land. Fixed Immortal Travel Gu will be safe if nothing goes wrong for about a month, the span an immortal Gu’s aura lasts. ch. 437
Expecting northern plains Gu Masters soon, he wants to subdue a thousand wolf king and raise his wolves to over two thousand. Planning to pass as Chang Shan Yin, he puts wolf enslavement first, but holds only one rank three and one rank two wolf enslavement Gu, which disperse after use. Rank three enslaves a thousand wolf king, and rank four a myriad wolf king or mutated beasts. Lacking recipes for either, his wolf group can reach only a few thousand wolves. Two days later, he reaches the edge of poison grassland. The poison beard wolves grow restless, since sunlight greatly weakens their battle strength. Fang Yuan does not care, because the group is only temporary and will be eliminated sooner or later. ch. 437
Looking back, he sees poison grassland still under dark clouds. If the dense clouds over Hu Immortal blessed land’s east are not dealt with, that land would develop the same way, and he vows to return to poison grassland. A restriction that had pressed on his body since he entered northern plains slightly loosens. His aura rises from rank three peak stage to rank four initial stage, and he laughs, glad that adapting will keep restoring his cultivation. He rides on, leading the poison beard wolf group. ch. 437
On a hill, dozens of Ge tribe Gu Masters have been fighting over a thousand wind wolves for fifteen minutes. Their leader Ge Guang cuts off one wolf’s head, but his sabre breaks. A leaping wolf dies only because a Gu Master behind him fires a spiral water arrow into its mouth while Ge Guang bends under it. Ge Guang then spends his last primeval essence forming a new sabre that splits another wolf in two. The win is small, and his men, short of primeval essence, shout that at least three thousand wolves surround them. ch. 437
Ge Guang rejects the advice to break through the east, judging its weak defense a trap set by the wind wolf king, and orders a break through the west. Asked about Ge Yao, whom they have not found, he answers that his sister fled the marriage out of selfishness, and that sacrificing great men for a mere woman is not worth it. He leaves his slave Gu Masters on the mound to hold off the wolves with their lives. A loyal Gu Master blocks a three-leaf wind blade with his own body and is cut in two, but the weakened blade still reaches Ge Guang. Ge Guang’s sabre shatters, and he spits blood and falls from the hump wolf. The breakthrough fails, and the wolves close in again. ch. 437
The wind wolf king, a thousand beast king as large as a warhorse, walks out of the parted pack, and the slaves on the hill are already dead. The Gu Masters, out of primeval essence, grow uneasy, but Ge Guang stands with difficulty and rallies them, saying he still has hands, legs and teeth. Their morale rises into a will to fight to death. The wolf king turns its head east, where a large group of dark purplish poison beard wolves is closing in fast. ch. 437
